Marham farewell (Picture Heavy)

Post by HeyfordDave111 »

Hi everyone,

This Monday just gone, and as i was staying at my parents close by the 'action' i spent the morning at Lakenheath, seeing what an airforce can put in the air within 45 minutes! my word!

Anyway, deciding that i needed some Tonka time, and possibly for the last time, i took myself up there for arrival around 12.00.
Not expecting much, i sat back with camera, scanner, food/drink and waited.........but not for long.

Apart from the flyers i saw 3 that didn't, but as it was cold and although the weather picked up nicely i didnt go from just outside the car at the North end of the runway. So the photographs you will see here are taken Monday with weather improving right up to sunset, and Tuesday with a glorious day and sunset and lots of action, with Fang, Monster, Voodoo flights and second flights for some during the day, plus an engine pop going into burner at the take off run, that reset and flew ok, but later in the day when i didnt bother with the camera popped completely on its Take off roll.

Anyway, this is probably my last time for a long time at Marham (unless they have a Tonka farewell night / day shoot party), and here are what i took. C+C welcome as always. Meanwhile, get em while you can!
cheers
Dave

Hi mate,

Had 7 flying on the Monday of last week and 6 on the Tuesday, plus the drags along the runway of at least 2 othervairframes being moved and 2 in the open barns that didn’t fly.

Ok, while not the 30 x F-15’s in an hour just down the road, it’s worth sticking with, just in case, and if you get good weather, the sunset shots are remarkably easy to get too.

Cheers

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I need to make a visit, but that isn't going to be until August - I've no holiday entitlement left :-( By then, I guess the fleet will be reduced even more.

Sooner or later, yes.

Apparently a new one going to RTP this week, so one by one they are being eaten into.

Gossip going round last week was that 3-4 x f-35’s were due in May, and that the Tonka may not see out this summer.

Either way, see them while you can.
Cheers
