Whilst driving through the industrial estate at former RAF Clifton, just north of York, I noticed that they had started to demolish two hangars. I believe these were the last complete buildings from the airbase. RAF Clifton was a maintenance and repair base during the war, so presume they must have held a fair few Halifaxes; does anyone have any photos of that?
Until recently the hangars had been earning their keep as grain stores, but it looks like that's over. That just leaves a few ruins hidden in trees to the north of A1237 and a pub sign "The Flying Legends" to remind us of the airfield.
Farewell RAF Clifton
