RAF displays at airshow 2010 - What would you have?
Just a bit of fun to see what people on UKAR think...
If you could add two more RAF Solo displays to airshows next year what would you have? Tutor, Tuccano, Hawk, Typhoon, King Air and Chinook not included because they should hopefully still be displaying!
Included Tornado F3 even though the chances are very slim, but maybe just a small demo at the major airshows for it's final year.

I would have the Harrier because it is just unique! And its loud interesting and can put a great display!
As for the F3, just for a swansong!
I like seeing the Puma and Merlin, but I could just cycle down the road to see them.
Another possible vote would have been for the dominie if it was flown in a simmilar manner to the King Air.

C17 & an F3 for me.
I enjoy all the heavies at the shows, and think would be a good addition around the country if able to perform, and also an F3 for its final year.

C-17s will be too busy and there simply aren't enough F3s to do the display circuit and their QRA duties. Now that the Harrier is back from the 'stan and not due out any time soon i don't see why it can't return to the circuit*.
*Obviously there could be reasons like catching up on training that has had to take a place on the back burner due to Herrick requirements etc.

Harrier & F3 for me seeing as it will be the last chance to see the F3

Certainly getting the Harrier back on the circuit is a must for the RAF, losing it has removed a big part of it's engagement with the public. In a fantasy world I would love to see the F3 get a final swansong, but we all know it'll never happen, the Jaguar was allowed to go out quietly and F3s will be in much smaller numbers so no chance. So my slightly more realistic (?) choice would be the Nimrod. Always loved it's power and noise, a very different display to the rest of the RAF solos (although the C17 would also be unique).

I would like to see the Harrier back. Also the C 130, the plane just blows me away with the tight turns, low flying, and the high drop for landing, their both unique
Though having said that the F3 on its last year would also very nice, A nice paint scheme on one of the F3's for its final year would be fantastic
Any of those three would do me fine

The Mustang won't do what a Spitfire does, but it does it over Berlin.

Harrier and Nimrod
Seeing as the Harrier is winning someone email this to 20R squadron, let them know we want them back!

C-17 - the most interesting, that hasn't been done before.

Realistically, I just hope we don't lose too much more from year to year.
In terms of this thread I'd love to get the Harrier back and the Merlin too. Such a shame to see Team Merlin sat on the ground at shows when they had such a good display in '05 and '06. But I realise this is probably asking too much given the current workload of the helicopter fleet.

I'd like to see a Sea King/Griffin SAR Demo, at least so the seaside shows don't have to keep calling in the Dutch AB412 or Belgian Sea King, not that they aren't welcome but it looks a little odd when ours can't attend such events.
Do you want the Aladeen news or the Aladeen news?
Re: RAF displays at airshow 2010 - What would you have?
C-130, C-17 - no. Overworked as it is from all accounts.
Nimrod - no. Falling to bits from all accounts.
All the helos - no. Can't possibly compete with Chinook routine.
Harrier - yes please. Easily the single most impressive and beloved RAF display item for both joe public and enthusiasts alike.
Tornado GR.4 or F.3 - yes please.
Dominie - yes please, never seen before?

Added to the poll. But that seems to have reset it... Sorry
Re: RAF displays at airshow 2010 - What would you have?
Harrier and C-17 tac demo. I know the C-17 is incredibly unlikely, but something like that would be nice to see, seeing as we don't get much in the line of displays that really show what the aircraft does in theatre.
Re: RAF displays at airshow 2010 - What would you have?
Harrier and F3 for me. The Harrier's always a crowd pleaser and seems like I haven't seen one in an age! F3 display was always amazing and I'd love to see it again.
Wouldn't mind seeing a Dominie display as it'd be something different or th return of the Nimrod, I miss seeing a large military aircraft display regularly!

Can we have a VC-10 please, never seen more than a flypast and they can't be around for much longer. Failing that a C130 doing a static line para drop with a full load!
Re: RAF displays at airshow 2010 - What would you have?
Fred Grundy at the front end of a F3 and C17 will do it for me !
Don't know about those jets ,they spoil a very nice place

+1. Harrier is a no-brainer, but I didn't realise how much I'd missed the Nimrod displays until seeing the MRA4 at RIAT.
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...

I went for the Merlin and C-17.
Merlin - A very fluid and dynamic display (although not as good as the Chinook) and I do miss the Merlin display !
C-17 - After being in the RAF Valley photocall a few years back when an "Aluminium Overcast" did umpteen approaches/ touch and goes it was amazing and I was Astonished/ Shocked/ Amazed at it's manoverablility!
