Airbourne '09 Thursday and Saturday (now added)

Post by Sussexlad »

A few from Thursday where the obvious highlight was the Dutch F-16 and Spitfire formation plus an unusually spirited showing from a USAF KC135R and by the Lancaster as it swept in from Beachy Head.

Some shots from Saturday now added.

Very nice! Maybe they can bring that Spitfire to the Netherlands next year and repeat it at the Open Dagen with the Dutch Spit in the formation as well.

Am I right in saying there is another two seat spitfire in Dutch airforce colours based at thruxton? If so they could try and get that aswel 3 dutch spits and a F-16  Is the RNAFHF spitfire flying again now?

Cockpit vapour from the Typhoon

Reds arrival shot is rather good too. Looks like you had an excellent time.

Yh that is correct, it was sold to someone for 2 million or something

The Mustang won't do what a Spitfire does, but it does it over Berlin.

I had to do some reserch on this aircraft and it is a Spitfire T9 SM520/G-ILDA, It was bought by adventurer Steve Brooks, the first person to fly pole-to-pole by helicopter in 2005, and was the first airworthy aircraft of its genre to go under the hammer in 20 years. see more info here: http://www.flypast.com/view_news.asp?ID=341 I cant wait to see it :yahoo:

Cracking set, the Spitfire underside shot top notch. I think thats also possibly the only Reds shot to include Red 10 in the formation as well, brilliant
