I hate to agree with any moderator, but the single pilot running to his spit is stunning, have you tried it in sepia also B&W?

Oh really?!

I'm going to say one slightly negative thing, which is that one or two of these aren't up to the (very) high standard, sharpness and clarity of the rest (e.g. Vampire topside, the Typhoon shot straight after the Diamond Star line-up). Having said that - as we've come to expect from you - when they're good, they're really good, and the creativity and vision in some of these is terrific: I love the two-ship Blades take-off through the smoke, for example. Excellent shots throughout, but I just can't help thinking if you'd been just a little tighter on the quality control this would have been up there with the best airshow posts of the year...

As it is, its just exceptionally good!

Hope that's fair?!

Nice selection Richard, some of those a bit different from norm.Blades take off really stands out, especially like the "people"photos(Spit pilots and Guinot girls).Great to see BBD and Marinello together, was that Maurice in Marinello?

Great set all round - definitely like the people shots, like others have said - but the first one is very atmospheric.

Cracking set Richard, the Spitfire pilot running sums up the atomosphere of the 'scramble' nicely and the Vulcan shot is a cracker

Again many thanks for the comments.
To answer the previous two questions,

The kit used for the airshow was,
Nikon D3 70-200 f2.8 VR IF ED
Nikon D3 200-400 F4 VR IF ED
Nikon D2XS 24-70 f2.8 VR IF ED
Most shots taken with the 200-400 ( a thoroughly recommended lens )

Settings for the Typhoon Vapour shot

400ASA
Shutter Speed 1/640th
Aperture f13
Lens 400mm
White Balance Normal
Exp. Comp. +0.3

Hope this helps, however conditions do change !!

Lovely set(s), the scramble shots in particular are fantastic. Looking at the Hurricane IIb departure shot, I'd imagine you and I were stood more or less right next to each other! The angle is almost identical; far left, near the entrance to the aircraft park?
