Lakenheath 06 departures.
Lakenheath 06 departures.
All,
A selection of Eagles on the 06 departure shot today from the usual spot by the forest entrance. First time I've really tried this when they're been on 06 and it's not as easy as I thought - probably shooting all these slow Apache's has made me rusty when it comes to fast pointy things.

Re: Lakenheath 06 departures.
Thanks for the kind comments gents. The third shot was quite a suprise to me as well, as I don't normally get anything like that. Ironically I was approached in the morning by a American who pulled up asking me was I going to be there in the afternoon, which I replied unlikely as they usually finish by midday on a friday but he said that he was going to be with a four-ship who were departing in the afternoon, and were going to do the 'unrestricted' climb and would I photograph it for him. Obviously, I said I would, as the heads-up was nice but I said they've got to go vertical close in, pointing to the field by the road with the lights in which was where I would be. Sure enough, middle of the afternoon, four 'E's crank up and come out low and flat, one goes right, and the other three did the stand on the tails routine...probably nearer Center Parc's than Lakenheath! If they'd have done it where that 'D' model did in the morning we'd have got the shot!

Greats shots
I was rather surprised on Friday afternoon to hear a jet go over - I look out the window to what i thought would be the usual 135....but there Eagles!! This is the first time I've seen them go over Bury, so it was a pretty good sight!!

Hi,
There was quite a bit activity in the afternoon. I gather there was some 'do' at Lakenheath on friday, or over the weekend as a Typhoon and a Marham GR4 both arrived as well. The four jets the chap was with went up at about 15:00, and there was a few more departures after that as well. The one's you saw over Bury might be the two-ship of fast jets that I saw through the trees shortly after 17:00 as I was just getting on the A14 at Bury. There was still a few F-15's up at the time although some of the departures ended up at Leuchars.
