LAVEX 2009 (flightline-stuff added)

Post by KoenH »

Hi,

last week the 3rd Libyan Aviation Exhibition was held at Mitiga Air Base.
Although the show itself is not very big, the quality of the planes present is superb :yahoo:

1. as soon as we arrived in our hotel on Sunday, this beast came in to land
Image

2. and a shot if it during the show
Image

3.
Image

4. wide-angle shot of an An-124 taxiing to the static after a fly-by
Image

5. several An-32 waterbombers were present
Image

6. this Mi-14 was newly refurbished and repainted
Image

7.

8.

9. the Libyans currently have 2 operational Mirage F1s
Image

10. and the 2-seater even flew

11. one of these beasts was on static display

14. L-39 displaying and an Afriqiyah A319 returning from a flight

15. My last day at the show ended with a beautiful sunset
Image

16. what to say... 2 MiG-23s doing a demo over Mitiga Air Base. A very impressive sight to see. Unfortunately the 2-seater crashed less than 24 hours later during a solo display

hope you like them

Hi everyone,

thanks for the kind words, I´m glad you like them

@Kieron, it was nice to have met you. It's a shame about the nightshoots, but I don't think we can complain with the rest of the stuff we saw

Here are a few more photos, all taken on/near the flightlines, with special thanks to the guys who gave us a lift

1. at the maintenance facility

2. one of only 2(?) An-74-300s

3. stored Herc in much better colours than their new all grey scheme

4. one of 19 Mi-14s on the helicopter ramp
Image

5. and amongst a bunch of Mi-8s was also this medivac helicopter
