Radom Air Show 2009

Post by muflon »

Hi all... my first post here :) starting with some Radom shots - a tragic event that was mostly cancelled due to weather/Su-27 crash. But still, few nice photo opportunities around the fence:

Fantastic photographs! Given the circumstances, you have managed to get one of the best collections from the event. I particularly like the MiG-29 and the climbing Su-27.

What lens were you using?
Which locations were you at on the outside?

The photos above are linking to my website, where you can find some EXIF data :-) It was all mostly shot with a 500/4IS lens, sometimes with x1.4 teleconverter, on a 1D body.

These have been shot almost exclusively from the southern side - either the eastern "spotter pack" photopoint (which, to be fair, sucked ;-) far too far from the runway and much too much to the right) and the popular spot outside the fance, in the south-western corner - called "Skaryszewska". On the latter one, the above kit was sometimes WAY too long  people were getting full-frame shots of Su-27 passing above us with 70-200mm lenses...

If you are interested in more practical information on this event (in particular, details about the photo spots), check out my article at airshow-reviews.com.

They all look great, but the heatwave MiG-29 is my favourite.
Lovely pictures on your website too!

Cheers,
