Chilean Stars...
Chilean Stars...
Ola, from sunny Santiago and the FIDAE 2010 airshow, I thought I would post a few shots from this marvellous little event. Been snapping as and when I can, so here is just a taster of some of the aircraft taking part or just seen here. Many thanks to UKAR member 'shocman' who has been a fantastic guide to both the show and the city.
Just to point out, I haven't just gratuitously decided to post airshow images in Modern Mil, some of these aircraft are heavily involved in the humanitarian air bridge operation between here and Concepcion following the earthquake there less than a month ago. Even with the airshow on, aid is still flowing out of Pudahuel AB heading south.

Re: Chilean Stars...
Any old excuse not to go to the Northolt nightshoot.........the old "I am in Chile" excuse does not wash.
Nice shots Tony. I like the Gulstream.
It would not have been A surprise if the show had been cancelled so soon after the earthquake. It is good to see Chile trying to keep things going and holding international events, of any description.

I am sorry about this but 290 views and only 1 post is rather tough to believe given the quality and scarcity value of these shots. Come on chaps but alot of effort has gone into these.
Excellent set Tony. Some real 'beauts' in here. Not jealous at all. Some more when you are ready.
Cheers, ian

Just to echo IanH's observation about the lack of comments...
...and to add one of my own.
I hope it rains and you get really wet, Tony!

Great shots from rare parts TonyO. Hope you've got more to follow when time allows.
As for the 290 hits before a comment, yes, puzzling, but I wonder how many viewers were UKAR and how many were visitors.

Glad to see that the trip is paying off Mr O, some rare items in that set, look forward to seeing the rest soon.
I bet you missed not going to Northolt with the rest of us eh? We had thunder, lightning and rain, it was great, way better than the sunshine you've got.

Super shots, Tony.
Really like the Viper - I know its just shades of grey but it looks cool!
The Gulfstream is gorgeous too.

Re: Chilean Stars...
That's all very well, Tony - but what I really want to know is has it rained yet?
P.S. Love that Twin Otter - but they all look absolutely immaculate and superbly well cared for...

Re: Chilean Stars...
No amount of rain dancing is going to create precipitation here old boy, there's been barely a cloud in the sky since I arrived, utterly exhausting heat. As for the Twin Otters, they have been up and down all week working on the airbridge or dropping parachutists, great little machines.

Not so much of the 'old boy', you impertinent young whippersnapper!!!
And my rain dance has worked... Unfortunately, in the wrong country - but you can't have everything, can you?

That nice Lear Jet would look even better parked on the ASP at Northolt under the floodlights!
Cheers Phil

Hi Tony,
I'm so glad because we meet in Chile, and we spent very good time in FIDAE and we saw very rare aircraft too.
Very interesting pictures, I like the Bell 412 image.
I hope to see you again, before you leave Chile tomorrow.
Greetings
Shocman

Lovely& interesting set throughout! A few goodies there then! Pretty sure that FK28 has passed thro' Glasgow a few times over the years as did the Chilean AF C130's. 996 rings a bell. They wore camo back then (late '70's). Come to think of it so did most of the Casa 212's!
