Tiger Club Invades Gatwick - UPDATE 3

Post by FOTO4 »

This was probably a " once in a lifetime " opportunity and was hastily put together by enthusiastic Tiger Club members within a very short space of time while having a cup of tea and a piece of cake - a few phone calls later and all the usual reprobates arrived and after a briefing we were ready to go. This shows the true spirit of the Tiger Club and sport aviation - that's what flying is all about - having jolly good fun !!
A total of thirteen aircraft formed the Balbo.

Would they not let you fly under the bridge! Maybe you could arrange a fly in at LGW if the ash continues! Give the controllers something to do at least! :yahoo:

Sorry Damien, no shots of the museum, maybe next time.
It certainly was a great experience and helped of course by very favourable weather.

Is that the Kynsey / Walker team double winger near the rear of the formation?

Lovely shots, very difficult to take air to airs of large formations well, something that only those who take air to air appreciate.

Looks like it was damn good fun. Its interesting how the aircraft disappear into the background. Yellow and orange are good camouflage.

I agree with AngliaPhotography, photos of large formations can be a bit tricky, sometimes its better to get one or two of the big picture then concentrate on smaller elements. Thats not to take anything away from the shots, a superb record of a once in a lifetime event.

I agree with Dan in so much as the aircraft are a bit tricky to pick out when they're directly over Gatwick, but that's not to take away any of the history of the occasion, or the excellence of the shots. In the shots where the aircraft are over the Surrey countryside, the impact's pretty stunning. Some awesome captures, all in all.
