NASA Ellington/Johnson space centre ,Houston

Post by trend71uk »

During this years US trip I was lucky enough to get a tour at NASA in Houston. Guide for the day was Ken Cockrell a 5 times Shuttle mission pilot / commander - bit of an aviation god really ! A fantastic trip with a couple of really quite surreal moments , one being able to sit in the pilots seat of the NASA shuttle training aircraft (converted G2),while Ken went through the controls .Another was sitting in the pilots seat of the NASA Guppy looking out of the window watching a B-17 in the circuit - thought i'd gone back in time !
Anyway some pics from a great visit , the only problem from a photo point of view was the heat haze ,there was lots of it and the temperature was mid 90s
Couldn't believe my luck when I saw this on the pan visiting from El Paso...................................

Then it went out for a few circuits !

After landing I was allowed inside the Guppy cockpit, while this did several circuits............

Belting set Mark. Love those T-38's. Was it an open house day or a work trip that got you in there?

Good set, you've got to appreciate the Guppy photos but that's one ugly bird.
