The Met office disagrees with that, however as we all know weather forecasts are rarely accurate that far ahead

Last year on the sunday a guy in the airshow information center told me the forecast given early that morning. Even that was wrong, so we'll just have to wait and see till the very day.

The only way I can agree with global warming is relating it to riat. As a kid, every single riat was hot, sunny and perfect blue skies(1988-2000). But the last few years has been a washout, last year on the Sunday was worst by far. Just pray for sun!

That's exactly the way I see it!

I remember going to RIATs '96, '99, '02 where conditions were perfect! Since 2007, the weather has just deteriorated at RIAT. Hope that can change next week!!

To quote Peter Gibbs on BBC weather last night "we can't say with any certainty what the weather will be like after Thursday (tomorrow)".
So as I said, too early to be looking at forecasts. I travel down on Monday by the way.....

Well I'd be happy for everyone if this, taken from the monthly outlook on the BBC weather site, came true (as long as West means West above Gloucestershire) :

Monday 12 July 2010 to Sunday 18 July 2010

Rain stays in the north
The north and west of the UK will remain fairly unsettled throughout the period, with showers or longer periods of rain, some which may be heavy. It will also be windy at times, with a chance of gales in the far north and northwest at first.

Elsewhere, it should be more settled with generally dry weather and sunny periods, the most prolonged of these across southern and eastern parts of the UK. The chance of thundery showers continues into the first part of the week, but these will be very hit and miss.

Temperatures are expected to be around normal for the time of year in the northwest where cloudier conditions prevail. Elsewhere it should be warmer, and hot in the southeast at first.

Aren't rose-tinted spectacles wonderful?...

As one who has attended most events since 1977 at Greenham, Fairford, Boscombe, and Cottesmore, I find it difficult if not impossible to recall any of these which have not suffered from poor weather on at least one of the arrival, show or departure days. Oddly enough it seems to me, and friends who have accompanied me for much of that time, that A) Thursday is often cold, wet or cloudy and B) it is commonly the case that one show day has reasonable or even good weather whilst the other is often much worse.

I can also assure you as one who was present on all three dates that Sunday 2009 was not as bad as Sunday morning 1992(or maybe 93?) when due to the rain nothing flew until early afternoon and that was a US Army Apache, and nowhere near as bad as Friday 2008! I gave up even trying to stay dry by about 12:00 on that day.

None of which (other than the cancellation of the show in 2008 or a heavily pregnant wife in 1995) has ever stopped me from attending or enjoying the show.

Can't fault that. Thursday has nearly always been grey and often cold since I've been attending the arrival days ('02) thankfully though I decided not to attend RIAT '08 at all :king:

Your memory clearly isn't too great itself

1992 at Boscombe Down was sunny from Wednesday through to Monday, absolutely perfect, as was 1996 at Fairford - perfection and 1989 very close to that (a bit of cloud on Wednesday afternoon and Monday).

However to contradict the first posting and in agreement with yours no way was every IAT from 1989 (no event in 1988) through to 2000 sunny and perfect. 1994 had heavy showers in the morning, thankfully the Herc line up provided plenty of shelters, 1993 suffered some dense cloud at times on arrivals, 1991 was particularly frustrating with heavy cloud at times - Saturday had the best weather that year. And the less said about 1990 at Boscombe, especially arrivals and departures the better - grim at times  The rest of them have been mixed bag with average and excellent weather days thrown in.
Today's number is the number two! I have two vings and I have two fangs to bite you.
