RIAT from Totterdown

Post by lozza »

Myself MJ and Trebor opted for the hill at Totterdown, only 10 pound per car and in my opinion a great location, so Friday night was a damm fine curry and beer in Cheltenham, great living so close.

Best pas of the day at the hill was without dout the C17, though will say for the Worlds largest Military Airshow thought i was very slow up untill about 2ish, but then all was forgiven

Is that £10.00 to charity or the farmers pocket ;)

Some good images even so from that location what equipment you using ?

Have to agree with DanO's comments a few are suffering softness maybe due to being cropped ?

A lovely set... there were a few sucking noises coming from the FRIAT stand as he turned towards Totterdown. He started sinking at the same time, did not look good.

Then again, the Bf-109 almost did the same on Sunday during take-off.... started sinking towards the runway.

I certainly wouldn't have felt comfortable at Totterdown during that C-17 display on Saturday - looks like a bootfull of top rudder was needed to stop that rather worrying sideslip

Vulcan shot is ace

Awesome images, looks like Totterdown was the place to be, your F22 shockwave image is a cracker and the first of its kind I have seen anywhere.

As for DanO's comment, well the phrase "should have gone to specsavers" comes to mind.

Some nice images there - good to see something different; love the light on the Vulcan. Completely agree with DanO that some are suffering from OOF - the 109 especially.

Thanks for the comments actually i agree with DanO there not the best, but posted as i thought it was an interesting selection, think may-be using a 1.7 convertor hasn't helped being handheld and in the wind, still theres always another day, strangly the best two shots i can't post on here for some strange reason

Some tremendous shots in here, Laurie. Particularly the fifth Raptor and the third Dutch F-16.

I agree with yourself, Dan and Neil though that one or two are a tad soft or blurred and I'd have just left out those ones personally. Happens to everyone, it's the nature of it, but I pick out only the very best of my own, which sometimes means there aren't many and/or much variety, but I think 'quality not quantity' is a good model when sharing on here as there's so many threads after each show. The good quality ones stand out in this thread, just as they do on the forum as a whole.

BTW - what can't you post the best ones? Error message or something, or not allowed to? ;)

They are a good selection. I'd suffer from wanting to show the best compositions and may have posted those rather than the sharpest ones, it's really difficult to hold back. I know how you feel about that. The Raptor with the pressure wave and the Hornet a two really special shots.

I actually lke the Raptor take-off shot the best. Needs a bit more work - crop out the bush at the bottom and perhaps up the contrast - but it's colourful, action packed and just screams AIRSHOW!

Can someone explain to me why with all those pyrotechnics going off we can't have flares from the F-16's as well? I'm not suggesting at the same time of course!
