Friends? of RIAT

Postby Redvanman on Thu 22 Jul 2010, 4:09 pm

Thanks to the 'friend' of RIAT who pinched, removed, STOLE  my mate Stan's sheet, on Sunday evening, which was tied to the railings at the top of the grandstand to act as a windbreak. I thought this was meant to be a friendly club where we could leave things and return to find them still there when we got back.

Would have been a fairly lengthy job as it was a fifties hospital sheet with eight ties in the corners and along the sides. Has the markings of Exeter Hospital in the corner.

Anyone who sees it on the airshow circuit, let me know and we shall also be looking out for it next year.

That's very curious. Who'd want to nick a sheet? Still, I suppose some people would take anything if it wasn't bolted down, and I'm not even sure about that the way things are today.

Are you sure it wasnt a member of staff removing something that shouldnt have been there? Did you ask the staff where it went?

Agreed, most likely removed by a member of staff.

On Friday, a couple of gents down from me attached a small tarp to the railings to protect themselves from the wind. Five minutes later, RIAT ops workers arrived and made them take it down for H&S reasons.

No, it wasn't removed by a member of staff - it's been up there every year - and no, it wasn't taken from the hospital.

It was stolen by a FRIAT member.

Put out an APB for, err, a sheet!

Prove it was a FRIAT member. Prove it or apologise.

That's a complete fabrication there Andy - we haven't solved anything yet!

Surely if things like this are going to happen, then there should be a blanket ban on all sheets, tarpaulins and the likes.

Redvanman may not know who nicked the sheet yet, but he'll soon cotton on.

I thinks it's a nylon certainty that some percaleonker (b&B injoke) will come forward with it. Otherwise I think it's only a matter of time before charges are pressed. *fetches coat and hangs head in shame*
