We spoke to the Vulcan guys recently about the above and they were/are happy to do it.
However, much as it would be epic to have 558 back in the Devon skies, sadly the cost of a flyby were prohibitive on our budget this year.
If we can swell the pot for next year, then the howl of 558 may be heard again over Dawlish.........

Cheers!

re XH558 - thanks for that, shame really. Since transit costs to Bournemouth are a "given" now, an organisation wishing to advertise its aims to maximum numbers of people might just have thought that a flyby in front of 80,000 people, with attendant P.R. might just be worth the extra fuel and admin, off their own backs? Never mind, best of luck for Thursday and hope the weather holds out......

It's always a really good night so hopefully see some of you there, ideally waving money for some of those fab auction lots. Carnival week in Dawlish is a lot of fun, raft race, pram race, kids events, carnival procession, so for those of you who have been tempted to spend more than just the day next year think about making a short break/week of it.

I am planning on meeting up with Morley in the morning and being up on the hill on the day to take a few shots, hopefully with collecting bucket, programmes and info on Friends of Dawlish Airshow 2010/11 so make my life tough and the bucket heavy, and have plenty of change to hand (ideally not of the bronze sort, and definitely no Early Learning Centre money, sweets, Asda car parking tokens, bottle tops or old half ta - we have had all of those and plenty of other weird round items before and it just buggers up the counting machines)

Have a great time in Dawlish everyone! Tracy

I'd like to say a huge "well done" to Kev and the team for managing to put together a full flying programme - no mean feat, given the meagre resources they've had to work with - all your hard work is much appreciated, guys

Even the weather forecast for Thursday is now looking a lot more promising than it did a couple of days ago
Latest from the BBC:
"A largely dry morning with plenty of sunny spells and just an isolated light shower. However, cloud will thicken from the southwest later, with rain reaching many parts by evening."
Fingers crossed for it to hold off until the flying has finished.

See you all on 'the hill' tomorrow

P.S. Will the frequency be the same as previous years - i.e. 122.1 ?

Have good drive, 6.00 whether forecast on BBC does show shower around mid day, then maybe 1.00 ish a solid LOOKING band, but it could be better than they say,ey office showed it not so bad yesterday. We do have Dartmoor before, and nearby Hallen Hill so it might alter? Here's hoping, still good vapor trails! See you all there

I would just like to thank the team for putting in the time and effort to organize the show. It was just a pity we lost the sun but no rain only early on. As it was my first Dawlish it was just nice to see so many people on the hill and seafront, let's just hope people put money in the buckets. Hope next year comes off and i can get time off work for one of the best locations ive been to. thanks Morley and team for your effort i for one am glad you did.

I have just spoken to the main man, Kev Wills a.k.a POD, and we don't have a final figure yet but believe donations and sales of programmes on the day have raised a figure of around £16,000. This is a fantastic improvement on last year, especially in light of the smaller crowd, and will give us a great start for 2011.

It was good to put some faces to names up on the hill (and in the pub, hope everyone is fully recovered by now) and to those of you who believe weather forecasts over Kev's hotline to the weather gods shame on you, hope you'll make it next year instead. Thanks to all of you who donated and/or became members of the Friends scheme. Next year's scheme is up and running and the application form should hopefully be available on the website soon if you didn't get one on the day.

Glad to see people had a good day and love the pics that have been posted - I didn't get chance to take any of the display and am too embarassed by my efforts in comparison to post any that I took in the morning! While there are a lot of people involved in making the show what it is I think we all owe Kev a big  , without him it just wouldn't happen. See you all next year.

Big time!
Without Willsy's grit and determination against many odds, this event would not be where it is now, if actually happening at all.
"Nice one Willsy, let's have another one!"
Well done mate

Yep, well done Kev, and his team for keeping the show going when many would thrown in their towels. I was one of those who put too much faith in the weather forecast and decided against the drive down, that and the distance from London when I needed to be there and back on Thursday. Next time I'll ignore the Met Office!

Good to hear that donations are healthy for next year, I always throw a few quid your way whether I can make it or not as it's worth it to see the pictures from the hill every year. Hope it continues!
