Fife International Airshow - 10 Sept 10

Post by TomG »

Having been there when the F.3 arrived for duty with 43(F)Sqn, I had to be there when the curtain was publicly closed with the F.3 in the hands of 111(F)Sqn. With a grotty start to both Friday and Saturday which then gave way to some lovely blue skies, Leuchars was indeed a treat despite the niggles of the static display etc. A selection from Friday & Saturday, not exhaustive as I was catching up with friends and also getting acquainted with a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.......

Friday:

6 Sqn arrive.......

Brilliant! Was almost back there again! Good times had by all Tom and roll on next year.

Love that Tiffie shot with vapour in the clouds

What a great weekend - some nice shots from your elevated position - (Cherry) pick of the bunch eh? That Phantom shot is very evocative and makes me shudder at the thought of that pair of scissors that I had an argument with :clown:
The F3 and Typhoon is my favourite with the 4 ship coming a close second!

The coloured tail band on the BUFF's tail may be for the 343rd Bomb Squadron which was formed last year. :dunno: :dunno:

Since I made this posting I have had a e-mail from the PAO at the 917th Wing about "Balls 45" and the tail band. :yahoo:

The orange/turquoise band was a mix up with the paint codes and should have been the blue/gold of the 93rd BS, basically the paint shop "blew it" and, the correct colours will be applied the next time that 60-0045 goes through the paint shop.

The 343rd BS is a reserve Squadron assigned to the 2nd BW and does not have any aircraft attached to the unit although the base is looking at painting one aircraft in the 343rd BS's markings.

Another vote for the Typhoon demo image, Tom. Very dramatic with the efflux and sky.
