Flying a Harvard

Post by PorkScratching »

I flew a Harvard today! Truly awesome, and quite a change from the Cessna 172 I normally fly. Andrewsfield arranged for one to visit for a few hours for us to have a play with. Not cheap, but I had a birthday that ended with a zero last week, so thought I would treat myself. Here's a bunch of shots I took of those having fun before and after me:

Excellent pictures Nick - I think the head-on low level 'gear retraction' shots are superb.

I love the shots. I also agree the head on gear retract ones stand out. I quite fancy flying the beast as well but I suspect it's quite a handfull.

Thanks all. Knock 20 off Damien and you'll be about right  The head-on-grear-retracting shots were a bit of an afterthought - The Harvard started up for its return journey to Duxford just as I was leaving, so I pulled over at the upwind end of the runway and phoned the club on my mobile to suggest they may like to call the pilot on the radio, to ask him to stay low on departure if he fancied having some nice photos. It's not a handful in the air foxfour - the controls are very light. It's obviously a little more tricky on t/o and landing, especially in the sporting crosswind we had today. The instructor took care of those though!
