I intend to go both days this year; having last gone to the USAF celebrations in 2007. Theres lots of useful advice in previous threads on UKAR. The earlier you get there the less crowded the static. The light gets better later in the day, although the last displays are usually in rapidly diminishing light. The Thunderbirds ground display makes a suitable break to find the restrooms and something to eat!

Did anyone notice they had a F-104 on the static list but it has now disappeared?

This will be my first trip to 'Aviation Nation' but not to Nellis AFB itself, I won't be driving but I know access is only possible via being 'bussed' from the speedway, I presume I can just get a cab to the speedway (from the strip) and go from there? anyone done this before?

I wonder if there is a "locals entrance" near the base. I noticed in 2008 that the gate where the bus from the speedway entered the base they had security personnel and all the gear to process walk in visitors.

Getting a cab to the sweedway is easy, getting back is a different matter.

Ask the same cabby if he will pick you up at a certain time after the show,if not,and you have no mobile phone, there is a phone outside the speedway shop.

As Alex says it gets dark very quickly out there....... very spooky when you're the only ones left out there......

Thanks, I will have a word with the cabby, and regardless I'll make sure I have a few numbers in my mobile just in case!

Mind you after the show had finished in 09 on Sunday, we stayed (viewed from just outside the Speedway) well into darkness to see all the Exercise Green Flag aircraft blast off, truly memorable sight of Raptors / F15s / F16s 'lighting' up the sky with their afterburners!

No B1Bs this year???

As an aside, we got to the speedway around 07.30am and their were not that many people at that time waiting to board the shuttle bus.. could be different this time who knows.

Did anyone make it out to Aviation Nation today?

I spent an hour and a half waiting for the bus in the red parking zone, got fed up and left.

The arrangements for buses didnt seem as good as they have been previously.

Spent the day up at Speedway yesterday, and felt the display was almost exactly the same as the 2009 show.

First of pardon any mistakes in this text. I'm typing it by iPhone at Las Vegas airport with a beer now waiting for our flight back home to Vancouver. Anyways we went to the show on Sunday as well. Got to the speedway at 8:30am and got through security and on a bus by 8:45. We were on base by 9. That too was from the red car park. As far as if the show was like 2009. That I don't know. I was not there then. All and all though. I thought this was a great show. Pics and such to come soon.

Just returned from "doing" both days at Nellis. Saturday morning was a mess with no consistency at the two Red Car Park security checks as to what was going on. Despite being in the first 20 cars to park I didnt get onto base until 0920 when the static was already teeming with people making photography difficult. Im afraid I left as the Thunderbirds started their build up and hence got straight on a bus back to Speedway. There was no problem getting the car out and back to the I-15 and Vegas.
Sunday was completely different and was on base at 0820 with almost noone around. (gates were supposed to open at 0900!).
Our coach driver said the Saturday problem was the State Troopers hadnt closed the road past Speedway at the correct time. Who knows?
Show was much as before, but for me the F-4 alone made it worthwile.
Have posted some pics on Airshow forum.

Went both days, Sat was a nightmare to get in as we heard only 7 shuttle buses were running from the speedway to the base, but Sunday was much better.

Yes there was reputition but, the vintage CSAR with A1s, O2 Birdog & Phantom, aswell as the present day CSAR with F16, A10, Blackhawks & C130 was good, sundays performance being alittle more 'zippy' (F16 jocky using alot of burner!),F22 & Phantom solos were good, C130 'refuelling' 2 Blackhawks (Sun only?),F18 and Air Warfare centre flybys of A10, Aggressor F15 & F16 ... all in all a good show again.

Static highlights for me were the NASA F18, EA-6B Prowler & E2 Hawkeye,Aggressor F16 /F15 & F5 - oh and nice to see 3 17sq Typhoons tho pity the 2010 demo pilot (altho his season over technically) could not have been brought over from the UK to demo one (as has happened to dutch & Belgian F16s at past shows)...

Had a 'walk through' Nellis memorial park too which was interesting..

Most Americans go to church on Sunday morning. Makes a big difference in my experience.
