Two more; all were shot with Canon EOS1DsMkIII and 600mm, a mix of hand held and tripod mounted, the slow shutter Kingair shot at 1/100th using a Wimberley head and Gitzo tripod.

Lovely shots Nigel, espically the quick thinking to get the two with the moon. I was half tempted to make a final trip to Cottesmore yesterday instead of Coningsby, never mind now. Again, lovely stuff.

Love the sunset and moon shots!

Was it Mr Pert who displayed the Hawk a few years back?

Seems Cottesmore is surprisingly busy considering!

Some really nice shots there, mixing the colour, angles and everything. Like that foreground harrier with the moon and another harrier in the background.

It looks like heaven indeed!:)
I like all of them but last one(with the moon) is really one-in-a-lifetime-shot:)
Well done!

A glorious set indeed with the late ones being my faves! 20 mins more flying in the right direction and dare I say it cold have got better. No complaints though, was a great day from the flying perspective counterbalanced though by the madness of the decision to lose these aircraft and unsettle all the families.

Regards, Ian

Many thanks again.
Indeed it was a grand day Ian, if only they had flown for another 20-30 minutes, the sky when I started off home was just awesome, with runway lights and Harriers in front of it all it would have been very spectacular.... maybe in the next week or so after the clocks drop an hour we'll get a chance!

I've not yet finished editing all the shots!

Great set Nigel and it was indeed a shame the day ended 30mins too soon although your sun set images are looking very tasty.

So if I was to take a day off work and head to Cottesmore, when would be a good day? Any week day with a good weather forecast in the next couple of weeks?

No point in going on Fridays... There will not be any more activity on that day - and nor will there be any more night flying...which might help... Monday to Thursday clearly the days to consider.
