WEF 2011 in Payerne (CH)

Post by muflon »

Not sure if it belongs to "Events" or "Military"... for us it's like an airshow ;), but feel free to move the subject elsewhere

Few photos of hot Swiss heavy metal - taken during annual operation of protecting airspace above the Davos summit. An opportunity to shoot some aircraft flying with "real" ammo, ready to kill anyone willing to disrupt the richies eating caviar while talking about Very Important Things :-D

This year it was carried over from the Payerne airbase. Not as spectacular as Meiringen (in particular: no afterburner takeoffs as a rule), but with nice access from both sides of the runway, thanks to the newly provided "spotter hill", few meters from the Tiger taxiway

Exceptions confirms the rule :clown: But there were really perhaps two of these overall during the day. The airbase is practically in the middle of a village and here, they are obliged to take this into account. There are even regulations concerning number of flights per year, proportion of directions etc., all to minimize the noise.
