Thank you for info.
The runway at Sliac is a North / South direction, like at Piestany, and I guess spectators will be on the east side of the runway. So the sun will be in front of the public in the afternoon
I wonder wether the west side will be reachable, like at Piestany ?
Does anybody know the place ?

Thanks ;-)

The problem is I am only interested by Slovak helicopters (Mi-24, Mi-8)
So I really want to go to this show

Mi-24 will be retired from Slovak Air Force by the end of this year...Only four of them are still airworthy. Another chance to see them may be at the end of May, when another airshow will be held in Slovakia at Trencin. Open day at Kuchyna AFB might be as well. However no participants or detailed info has been published yet.

I haven´t been at Sliac for some time, but I don´t think they changed the direction of the runway (just made it longer and wider I guess) so you are correct. During the "old days" like 5 years back when I went there regularly the spectators were indeed on the east side with no access to the west side (I actually wasn´t even aware west side was reachable at Piestany, I wasn´t there last year but previously it certainly wasn´t)

Its a shame our airshow will be at Sliac this year (its closer to where I live but thats about it) Piestany have much better connection for foreign visitors and also have really nice museum (with aircrafts but also tanks, anti-aircraft systems etc. everything)

also I would like to put this one to your attention http://aviatikteam.sk/index.php?option= ... 33&lang=en should be smaller one that SIAF 2011 but still some lovely planes B-25, Mustang, Spitfire (hopefully) Mig-15!!! Catalina, well and our Mig-29 and gorgeus Hind don´t really need introduction...*site is in english as well it seems, but if you have any questions just fire away, i will do my best to answer

I would not be so sure about Slovak Air Force participation in Trencin. They have announced that they wont participate in any airshow in Slovakia, except SIAF at Sliac. Of course, their participation is not cancelled for now, but dont expect them.
