757 - action in Innsbruck (LOWI)
757 - action in Innsbruck (LOWI)
Hi everyone,
Here are a few impressions from Innsbruck (LOWI) taken this winter season - mostly 757s among a few others. Unfortunately once again there was hardly ever snow, so
it may not look like winter in some shots. I hope you enjoy!
--------
Heavy smoke from a fire in a factory (thankfully no injuries) and strong winds made the approach a little tricky that day!
-------
Comments appreciated!
Greetings,
Philip

Lovely set
The close-up Aeroflot stands out, but all are nice images.

A very nice, bright set.

Excellent photos - as a young lad I went to Innsbruck by train from Uk for ski-ing. I remember looking down on the airfield to see a Brit Eagle Britannia landing - is my menory correct

Sorry for the late response but to be honest, I totally forgot about the thread. Thanks for all your kind words and POTW, I highly appreciate it!

That was before my time, but I asked somebody with knowledge about Innsbruck airport and was told that your memory is correct. Brit Air Britannia, Viscount and later BAC1-11 were used on a regular basis to/from LOWI, until G-AOVO crashed on approach in 1964 killing all on board. Airlines from the UK were a rare sight here in the following years. In 1968 G-AFTN crashed in Germany enroute to INN and Brit Air went bankrupt.

Cracking shots, scary fire on approach though
'Little friend, little friend,we are gonna have to bail out, will you standby and count the chutes?'

All lovely but the first one is something else.
