Update for you airheads

Static 33sq Puma lost.. due to ongoing exercises & C17 who knows - i am very much in the dark at the moment re this & i do all the Static / Flying bookings, Airlift wing have confirmed one on the sched but not sure 99sq know about it !?!!! All will be revealed Sunday. AAC Historic Aircraft Flight were due to send some of their collection over, however, they have currently been withdrawn from shows at the moment as far as i read into it !!!!!!

Only helo this year will be the Merlin..

And we are possibly looking at a 47sq C130K to do a flythru (s) for us... subject to getting approval at the moment as i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) the K version is getting rarer?

Its a very long process i can tell you trying to stay on top of sorting out a flying program /static as any organiser will tell you....

Sat practices midday to 13.30L

Its a slim chance the squadron of Daleks may 'flypast' down the peri track in formation :heyhey:

Hi Old Tower and Mr OAG

Making the trip from MK this year as looking to be another good-un. One quick question - Last year I seem to remember the car park opening before the gates open at 10, will it be the same this year?

I was the third car to arrive last year and was turned away and told to come back when the gates open. 5 minutes later they let everybody in and I had to join the back of the queue! So don't arrive too early!

Car-parks to open at 0900hrs(could even be a little earlier if queues begin to lengthen) but show-site entry is at 1000hrs

hope this helps

I turned up about 11:00 in 2008 and 2009 and, based on those experiences, approx mid-day last year. No queues worth mentioning (few minutes) and plenty of room to park.

Nivvy, there is plenty to see and do on the ground in the showground.

Amusements for all the family, including fairground rides, Zorbs, motion flight simulator, climbing wall.
Tank rides
Lots of stalls/ traders
Craft Marquee
Plenty of food wagons
Bar.
Musical Entertainment

No problem with folding chairs but best not put them out to reserve a spot

Have a good day tomorrow

Thanks for the update OldTower. Merlin in with a modification - on the aircraft or where it will be on the showground?

Any news on the C-130K flypast? I assume if it could happen it would be towards the end of the show?

Looked like the standard Hawk to me and the other displays were good in the conditions which were fairly windy with an on crowd wind.

Thats one of the good things about this show, the carpark runs along the runway, so after a walk around the show
you can go back and sit in the car, then walk to the runway and watch the action. Its a nice chance to see XH558
and hear those nice Olympus engines without the commentary blasting out the show speakers.
If you are a Kleptomaniac, take something for it.

Have a look on Google Earth. In general terms, and using the runways as the "dividing lines", the "showground" is usually in the NW "corner" of the site and car parking to the SW (but below the taxiway below the photo of the Hunter). Hope that makes sense.

Sadly got side-tracked on the way to the show today but waited at Lyneham for the C-130K which turned out to be a J (ZH884) - on it's return they reported it being 'over-stressed' and it made a long flapless landing - did it do a loop for you or something!?

I wish, it flew around waiting for the cloud to gather before a single pass with a slight pull up at the end of its run.

Hi!

Great day today!

Was a little disappointed by the solitary flat flypast of a J Hercules, but it was great to see one nonetheless! Also, shame the Vampire couldnt make it!

Vulcan...wow, that missed approach!

I like the Hawk and Tucano displays, shame they used regular aircraft though!

All in all, I had a great time, really well done to the organisers, looked like bumper crowds...would be interesting to know how many turned out!

I certainly look forward to next year's event!
