Is it worth it?

Postby seb on Thu 07 Jul 2011, 9:43 am

Hi guys,

Is Yeovilton airshow really worth it? I have never been there but since it’s a Royal Navy Base I thought it might be something different from other demos by RAF. I will be travelling from Birmingham (by train) so it will cost me a bit. Mostly I am after heli demos and that polish Mig (BTW, do you know if it will be performing on any other UK airshows?).

Cheers

You'll be in helo heaven with the commando assault that closes the show.

As of now, no it isn't at any other UK shows (a much lamented fact in the RIAT forum!).

It's certainly worth it to see the mighty Sea Vixen, the UK's most exciting warbird :yahoo:

In that case I will reconsider.
What am I missing - are the airshow tickets available only by phone (or on the day)?

You can buy tickets at the gate for £23 each, it's a bit late now to order over the phone or online but I am sure you can still pick up tickets from selected tourist information kiosks.

I got mine from Bath on Tuesday for £18 each, can't wait for Saturday :yahoo:

..and if you can't make it, it'll be repeated next year...and the year after...and the year after...and..... :dizzy:

So what Adrian? It's a great spectacle and loses nothing through repetition. Also a few years down the line and no doubt the Sea Kings, Junglies, Chinooks etc. will all be out of service and it'll be nowt but Merlins and Lynxes!
