Boff's RIAT 2011 Photos - Update 6 - Monday Departures!

Post by boff180 »

Evening all,

I am hoping to update this thread each night with a few photo's, I left just before the USAF F-16 arrived this afternoon to check in to my hotel so have had plenty of time to process todays images.

As such here is a larger than usual selection of todays action!

Comments as always are welcome.

Thanks

Andy

Good shooting Andy, the tooled up Tiffie looks the business  I hear the A-10 demo is a bit tasty too :D

On a personal note, shame to see some of the Tiger schemes arrive so early, was hoping they'd come in tomorrow. Still, the Flanker should make up for that

Thanks guys,

Just found out that noise ninja in batch mode was sharpening the shots! So I was then going and sharpening on sharpening! Silly software.

Forecast is looking great for tomorrow, to risk shorts or not!

Many thanks for all the comments guys.

Today was awesome, with photography conditions getting more difficult throughout the day, I left as team viper were getting airbourne. The only thing left that I wanted to get was the CASA AEW that was coming in today, but I'll get that departures day.

Here are a few from the Thursday!

Comments always welcome!

Thanks

Andy

Really great shots, especially from today, those Typhoon and F-16 shots are probably taken in the best lightning conditions well get all weekend, though you should get some good shots tomorrow, but fingers crossed that the forecasters are wrong again and it's going to be wonderful all weekend!

Loving the Flanker. Did it do a missed approach or did it just land straight away?

Ta guys,

It was following in trail formation with the IL-76, they passed through the overhead and lined up on approach; the IL-76 peeled off and the Flanker carried on in.

We could only assume that the Su-27 wasn't equipped to fly in international controlled airspace and had to be under the IL-76's control for everything but landing.

That first C-160 shot is brilliant, looks like it's coming out of the photo right at you!

I'm useless with telling a Rafale and Typhoon apart but whatever it is in your second set they are really fantastic shots and I appreciate the IL-76 and SU-27 shot a lot

There's both a Typhoon and a Rafale in the second set, but I guess you mean the flying one, and that would be a Typhoon ;)
