Funny old weekend. Spent a day and a half at RIAT in the end, entirely down to the weather forecasts.

Spent today inside but weather put me off paying too much attention to flying, and with nothing else much to really grab my attention I went along and paid the A-10s a visit. I can't remember ever coming back from an airshow with so few photos, and probably half of those I took today were of the Hogs!

Nice to catch up with a few peoople. DanO, Tony, Shaggie, Stu and the guys and girls at Squadron Prints - Gill, Berry, MarkyMc and for the first time, AndyBeau.

10649 has certainly been in the wars! Battered nose due to numerous refuelling engagements. Quite surreal that its a year since I last saw and photographed that aircraft in Kandahar fully tooled up.

So during a refuel the prop pushes the door down, Or is the door actuated via the A-10?

No, the refueling door is opened by the pilot.

These are beauties Dan, I'm surprised you were disappointed! You have no need to be. Some of the A-10 ones are smashing! Good to see RIAT placing it in the static once it became broken, a nice touch.

Chris - quite happy with some of the A-10 shots, but what annoys me is that they are just about the best I managed from two days at RIAT. Also irritates me to think of th light I 'wasted' shooting from Rhymes on the Saturday. Could have had some nice flyers and some better statics if I'd opted to use the tickets on Saturday instead. Wrong call.

Stu - good to see you too, albeit briefly. Was engrossed in conversation with Mark, Gill and Andy at the time, so apologies I didn't get the chance to have a proper chat with you and Candice.

Looking at the A-10's engines ..The inner bit that is a cone shape (sorry don't know the exact terminology)..looks a different design from right to left engine ..just curious to know why ? if anybody can shed any light on it ...Thx in advance

Just looks like a stencil marking (arrow heads I think), so they've probably changed the marking/decal design and swapped one of those part out for one that's been recently serviced in the new/different style. That would be my guess.
