I thought the metal background suited the Mi-17...

Very nice  especially considering how damp it looks. Is anything else due to fly in military wise?

Would be nice if Yeovilton could send the Blue Lynx and maybe a Sea King to reciprocate the lending of their museum Lynxes.

Great stuff  . I know I'm annoying even myself now but why? how? did such a small event like this get such a great pair of choppers yet the biggest military show in the world, a mere week before didn't?! Years ago the Czech choppers would spend a couple of weeks in the UK and visit several events. Surely 230 or 814 could have done a mini- exchange given the Tiger connections??... Lovley to see in any case, fabulous machines..

Great shots Rick. Wondered who the other 2 photographers in the field were. That was a nice pass by the Hind as it came round to land. I was asked to leave the field before the Fennec arrived. The man (Grant Mitchell lookalike) said it was private land but at no point asked any of the dog walkers to leave. I wasn't going to argue as he was a big bloke. Fennec arrived as I was leaving the museum car park. If you're going Sunday in the hope of getting them leaving remember to take your dog and the man on his motorbike might leave you alone!

Thanks for the advice - will bring the two dogs with me on Sunday! It was only the fact there were dog walkers there that we assumed it was ok to go into the field...there were many tracks there anyway! Will say hello on Sunday...

I asked the dog walkers before entering the old W-S-M airfield site. They assured me it was ok to go into the field, that dog walkers use it all year round, and that you could walk right up to the museum fence. One also said there was a public right of way but can't confirm that as I don't know the area. Apologies for not saying hello. I probably won't be going Sunday but I hope you get them leaving in sunshine.

There is no PRoW on the ordnance survery map so I guess 'Grant Mitchell' had a point...but i'l still try my luck on Sunday!

I thought the reason they stopped at Yeovilton was to fuel up for the outbound leg back to Gilze-Rijen? If you have heard they're going back to VLN monday then I might not bother going tomorrow then :surrender:

Nice to see you got them in good weather. Head on shot of the Hind lifting is superb as is the side on one of the Hip with the Hind in the background. Any problems with the man on his motorbike?

Agreed. Amazing that such a small event can lure these in though, as st24 said! :hypno:
