Friday at the Revival ****Updated****

Postby RRconway on Sun 18 Sep 2011, 12:37 pm

Hello all,

My first time at the Goodwood Revival. In my opinion much more fun than the Festival.
I didn't dress up but wish I had!!!! Those that made the effort really looked good, I didn't know which to take pictures of first, the aircraft, the cars or the people, so I did them all.
Guests were very friendly and only too happy to pose for photos when asked, thanks to all that did.

So a few from my first edit....more to follow....

Charlie Brown returning from an evening practice off airfield. Nice to see him in person for the first time, was very friendly with everyone and at one point was sitting under his wing watching the display :cuppa:

Hope you like them, please check back for more!!!!

Cheers,
Jeff.

Thanks for the comments James.
I am embarrassed to say I'm not sure which of the Spitfires is which  My knowledge of such things is sadly inadequate compared to others on here!!!!

If you can point out which ones you are referring to I'll gladly see if I have any more pictures of them.

Thanks again,
Jeff.

Thanks for clarifying that James, always good to learn something!!!!

Unfortunately I didn't capture that one alone, looking at that photo I don't know why....two steps to the right and voila!!!!

I think sometimes I take so many I forget which ones I've taken and which I haven't!!!!

Maybe next time!!!!

Cheers,
Jeff.

One reason might be that as far as I could see the covers weren't removed throughout the three days. Neither of the Kent Spitfires flew either, which I thought was odd. Perhaps a lack of pilots?

Hi Jeff
nice pictures. I have never been to the Goodwood revival. I noticed you seem to be very close to the aircraft, how close can you get or is it a bit like the flight line walk at DX or dd you manage to get a pass to go air side of whatever they class as the runway security area. Bit of a mouth full but i don't know how to put it.

Hi Phil, Clive flew the Kent Spit out for a Biggin display Sat and was in the second finger four on Sunday. There other Spit was static as was the Grace one.

Of course, I'd forgotten about the formation  . Apart from that though I hadn't seen it uncovered, which made me assume that perhaps there wasn't anyone available for it. With the layout and programme of Goodwood you tend to spend most of the time away from the 'airfield' so it's easy to miss such details. Thank you for the info.

There was a period at least between noon and 12.30 pm on the Sunday when all the Spits had no covers on. Oddly enough, it had been raining a little earlier. I was only interested in the Spits.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your comments. To answer your questions the aircraft were only 15-20 feet away at the most but there was a waist high picket fence there. I've not been to Duxford or it's flightline so couldn't make a comparison. I can highly recommend it, there is lots to see besides the aircraft as well.

Cheers,
Jeff.
