MCAS Miramar 2011 - picture heavy
MCAS Miramar 2011 - picture heavy
Took the plane to the west coast, after the wet show at NAS Oceana, where we hit the show at MCAS Miramar the weekend after. The sun was missing at NAS Oceana, but would have been in a perfect position. The weather was perfect at MCAS Miramar, but you are shooting directly into the sun, but I'll try to share some of my silhouettes with you anyway:
The USMC displays a big power demonstration, that includes a lot of different types. The first 10 pictures is from this demonstration

#11 - The Fokker from the US Army's parachute team, Golden Knights. The Fokker was tech the first 2 show days, but The Blue Angles came to the rescue, and offered them to take them up in Fat Albert.
#12 - USN Super Hornet demo, this time flown in an E model. Unfortunately it went tech on the Sunday, and they didn't have a spare with them, so the display was cancelled
#13
#14
#15 - USMC Harrier demo
#16
#17
#18 - USAF Viper West demo team.
#19 - USAF HF Flight, I know the F-16 isn't sharp, but you can't win every time, and the F-16 was flying a bit faster than the P-51, and I just can't take pictures of props
And then the crowd favorite: The Blue Angles

Soren,
Fantastic set of photos from Miramar!!! The MAGTF demo and the shots of the Blues were just awesome!!!
Post more if you've got them! Would love to see more photos of the Blues. Sure do miss shooting them myself. I haven't shot them in a few years since moving to the UK.

Nice composition with shot 17. Despite the difficulties of looking into the sun, you have managed to get a very good set.
