Duxford - My first go

Duxford - My first go

Postby DMH on Mon 17 Oct 2011, 9:39 am

I've been going to airshows and taking pics for years, but this is my first attempt at putting my pictures on-line. I would greatly welcome any comments and suggestions. I appreciate that most of the pictures posted by others are far better than mine and so that's why I'm putting these up - I want to know how to improve them.

All are taken with a Canon 350D through a Canon 70-200 'L' series lens. No filters are fitted and the only editing is cropping in PhotoShop and then 'save for web' to get the file size down a bit. I'm hopefully getting a Canon 600D body soon and a 300mm prime and I'll also try to get to a position where the sun is behind me...

I'm far from an expert, but I think you need to add sharpening to your processing workflow - the ones above look a little bit soft, which they all do when they come straight out the camera. Other than that - nice shots :-)

As already said, just a little sharpening needed. Very good otherwise though.

Thank you. I'll try that and see what happens. I'm guessing less is more with photoshop filters?

You may find the following link handy if you're new to Photoshop and editing etc - http://www.airshows.co.uk/blogs/photography/

Thanks for that, I hadn't seen that. I'll read it and have a go at improving my pictures. I'll save looking up HDR for a rainy day...
