Ah I thought there must be a reason. Remember in the old days of post count score keeping, there used to be hundreds of posts a day
I also think another reason for quieter times is ukars own success. So many people have seen all the venues, so many times, it is hard to be fresh all the time.ianf wrote:Ah I thought there must be a reason. We also still had an airforce 5 years agoI also think another reason for quieter times is ukars own success. So many people have seen all the venues, so many times, it is hard to be fresh all the time.

5 years ago I was making 3 or 4 trips to Lakenheath, 20+ trips to Coningsby and doing 6-7 airshows a year, plus base tours.
This year I did RIAT, Waddo, Leuchars, 2 trips to Coningsby, 1 to Mildenhall and two Northolt Nightshoots....
All because of the cost of fuel, I can't afford to spend £70 worth of fuel on the hobby anymore, especially when 9 times out of 10 the weather will be pants anyway.

Sure - I'll give you what the colours mean and the numbers that correspond to each for July 2010...Something has gone awry for the stats in March (probably related to some downtime - can't remember if there was a big outage then), but you can see that some of the numbers are pretty huge, and as I said, the 2011 stats are up on these figures (127,000+ unique visitors for July 2011).
- Orange represents unique visitors (defined as the number of different IPs to reach the site) [99,082]
- Yellow is the total number of visits (number of new people accessing the site who haven't done so within the last 60 minutes) [270,990]
- Dark blue is the number of pages viewed (number of pages viewed on the forums) [6,675,201]
- Light blue is total hits (number of pages, images, and files downloaded/viewed) [18,065,776]
- Green represents the bandwidth used (total data usage in terms of pages, images etc downloaded) [193.36 GB]
Of course, none of those stats count actual topics and posts on the forums, and there may well be a case to say it's quieter this yeah than last, but 12 months ago it must be remembered that there was a mad rush for everyone to get to Cottesmore, so there were lots of people posting photos and looking for information.
