Pete these are stunning,especially number 3 of the bomber... is it a Nikon 300mm2.8?

Fantastic, you just solved my "Nikon 300mm f/4.0 IF-ED AF-S vs Nikon 300mm f/2.8G VR II " dilemma for me....

Fantastic, you just solved my "Nikon 300mm f/4.0 IF-ED AF-S vs Nikon 300mm f/2.8G VR II " dilemma for me....
Quality pics for sure, however I must say that had I been standing alongside with my Nikon 300mm f/4.0 IF-ED AF-S fitted with a 2X teleconverter and shot at F8 ISO 400 on my D300 body I would expect to get images of very similar quality, The F2.8 only scores against the F4 in low light situations

In that light at F8 for both lenses, both AF-S I wouldn't expect any differences in focusing.
