Thanks,

Few more photo's. You probably can't see much change, I've made a few tanks etc to sit above the fan housing (still to fit and plumb in). It's almost ready for paint, just had to check the seams once more today, then I filled the gaps that needed filling with CA glue and will sort them tomorrow morning. Then it's paint time.........

C&C Welcome..

Thanks guys,

Body is in the first colour, Tamiya XF-2. Found a little problem with the Evo Solo, it seem to build up paint on the nozzle and started to spit little blobs over the fuselage. Not bothered as it needs a micromesh once it's dry, but it might be useful to know for those that don't/haven't happened to before.

Here it is with the paint's I intend to use on it, Might need a Tan colour, unsure yet.

If paint is gathering on the spray nozzle it's normally a sign that the needle tip is damaged or a bent needle.

Can't wait to see this scheme take shape

I did wonder about the needle, it looks straight to the eye so it's got to be damaged every so slightly if it is. Only other reason is maybe the end wasn't clean and it built up that way but i'm sure it was. I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

Anyway, going to let this cure for a few days then start the underside painting, finish the cockpit details and the engine so its all ready to go in once I'm done painting.

Thanks chaps.

Done the micromesh, flatted down nicely.. Given it a coat of Vallejo Burnt Umber thinned with Tamiya X-20 for the pre-shade, couple of photo's. This is my first time pre-shading so considering that, I don't think it's to bad? Next is to pick out some panels in various shades of grey/black..

Excuse the colour of the photo above, I had the room light on which has changed the tone.. Lights off from now.

Hopefully method in my madness here.. (compressor is hot so i've stopped, hence the boom not finished yet.)

I've never attempted this so well done.

What's the grey and white 'waffling'?

What ratio do you use for the Tamiya thinners with the Vallejo paint and does it take longer to dry using the thinners?

When I used to air-brush I always used the vallejo thinners as I wanted it to dry quicker and I was playing safe using the same brand.

The grey and the burnt umber are Vallejo, and i've been thinning them with Tamiya X-20A using a pipette to how ever thin I want it.

I'm doing the waffling as you put it to vary the colours that go over the top, still a few more to do but I need a few colours on to try achieve the look i'm after once it comes to salt weathering etc..

Finished up today on the paint, added some black randomly.. then tomorrow I've got to mix a shade of a light blue for the underside and camo, then alter that to make it lighter for the faded panels etc.. Then I'll jump onto the rest of the camo colours next week hopefully.

I'm really interested how the variation you are doing will effect the next layer of paint.

Obviously I've seen some use of this technique, but not to this extent.

Right this is where the ball ache starts, I've got in my head that I've to do about 4 shades of blue to get the look i'm after..

First shade is on, and just to let you know I've opted for Polish Air Force, 4 tone camo, so lots of variation.

Second coat of blue will be to tone down the pre-shading, third coat will be to pick out darker panels and the forth will be to bring out any seams/rivets.
