F1 2012

Postby A40-BP on Tue 29 Nov 2011, 10:29 pm

New thread for a new year

First bit of news, Raikkonen is to return to F1 next year with Louts Renault. Will be an awful shame to lose either Senna/Petrov or both if Kubica can return!

So happy that Kimi's making a return to F1. I'm really not sure who'll partner him though - Petrov didn't do a lot after Canada and Senna isn't exactly a young rookie!

I was glad to see Kimi coming back, it was such a waste when he went to WRC, i don't think Kubica will be in a F1 car next year, at least not at the start of the season, i would like to see Senna still racing next season.

With Kimi now going to Renault will Rubens stay at Williams?

I was under the impression that Kubica had already stated he wouldn't be ready to race next season?

Renault had said he wouldnt be, then Kubica publicly stated that wasnt what was discussed. Or something on those lines...

Good to see Anthony Davidson will still do commentary on practice sessions... I would prefer Davidson to commentate along side Brundle for race day instead of Croft

Well both have lost out but not to Kubica, but to Grosjean :hypno: I suppose, they might find it easier to boot him out if/when Kubica returns

The Caterham F1 team unveiled its 2012 challenger to the public on Wednesday, one day ahead of the what was originally planned by the squad.

The team has revealed its car on the cover of the latest edition of F1 Racing magazine, subscribers of which received their copies today. But the team has now also released an image of the car through its official Twitter feed.

It intends to publish more images and further details of its new car on Caterham's website tomorrow.

Depends on whether you are interested in how it looks or how quick it is........

I tend to concentrate on the latter.

Hadn't seen the Sky team announcement.

Its a shame the BBC have lost Brundle, but I'm not surprised Ted Kravitz jumped, he seemed to have been a long time in the pit lane without much hope of getting on.

I personally do not have Sky at home and can't decide if I want to subscribe.

Has anyone else already done so just for the F1?

Presumably being a Caterham the car is being gradually assembled in some guys garage, with various components being tinkered with at a kitchen table whilst a neglected wife looks on disapprovingly as she worries that a single sheet of newspaper isn't enough to protect her furniture from oil stains

Regarding the looks of the car, according to Autosport, some features may appear on other cars

features a platypus-style nose with front suspension mounts that raise above the noseline. Features such as these may prove to be quite common this year due to the new regulations covering the nose area.

Maybe we can get used to the look of it, like we had to with the regulation changes in '09 :dunno: Just hope Caterham can push on this year, Heikki is a great driver and has been able to get the most out of the team's two former cars and obtain some great results
