More of Leconfields Lightning days
You can never have too many Lightning photographs , so as I have most of them scanned now , here's another selection of W.E.W. Petters masterpiece shot at my local during a couple of deployments here of the Binbrook Wing in 1973 & 1976 , plus a few visitors . All photographed using Praktica Nova and LTL cameras on Kodachrome film .

Top quality as ever Fred, what sort of time scale were these taken?
Re: More of Leconfields Lightning days
Do you have a time machine and went back with a digital camera? Super sharp and fantastic viewing, great post.

Awesome Fred, what else can I say, thanks for sharing.
Re: More of Leconfields Lightning days
Just superb. As has already been said they look clean and colourful enough to have been taken recently. Scanning's always a bit of a chore but with a subject like the Lightning very rewarding.

Re: More of Leconfields Lightning days
Certainly cleared up a mystery for me - I always swore I'd seen Lightning's at Leconfield but having read in Action Stations 4 that the fighter squadrons moved to Germany in 1965 simply assumed I'd dreamt it all as that was the year I was born! Great pictures, thanks for sharing them with us.

Those really are the most sublime of photos and how I would have loved to have seen Lightnings flying operationally in those high vis schemes.
What also really impresses me is the quality of your scans. I'm in the market for a new slide scanner and I would love to know what kit and software you are using to produce such consistently excellent results.

Re: More of Leconfields Lightning days
Looking at XS919 makes you realise how sleek the F6 was without the fuel tank!
As a matter of fact I always thought the F6 was a fabulous looking aircraft from the top or underside view,I squandered many a minute at the airshow stalls and looking through magazine ads in the 1970s searching for that elusive top or underside shot!.....for me the Lightning F6 went from a mean chubby machine to a mean racing machine!
