Lincoln & Lancaster in B&W

Post by nuzzy »

I am new to this site so here are some scans of B&W prints, belonging to a very good friend showing two aircraft at Cranfield in the 1960's.

As can be seen both were being used on 'icing trials' on what is believed to be aircraft wings.

There are no prizes for naming the one that is still flying.

Lovely crisp b/w shots that would put some publishers to shame that only seem to be able to reproduce them in grey and white! Excellent!

They really are outstanding. Can't help wondering what else might be available...

The Lincoln was basically a stretched Lancaster with longer wings and uprated engines, therefore improved payload, range, ceiling etc. It became the platform for the Shackleton to be developed from.
