To re-iterate - Defence Estates granted props & helicopters onsite, only any heavy types & Jet(s) not allowed onsite due to concerns within Defence Estates.

Looks like a rather impressive line up! Great work and I hope the something from the AAC confirms for you and the Brize flypasts are available. Any plans for a certain Mr McCarthy in a certain black jet to appear?

Looking foreward to the day,will be my 4th Abingdon Air & Country show....I was parked up at the airfield crash gate Thursday just gone around 5pm, watching a Merlin exercising ,it flew right over our car 3 times in a few minutes...no camera between us of course!
we also had a C17 right over us on the way to Abingdon,nice ending of a day out for us ....on a sunny day too!

You missed the Apaches earlier then...apparently been quite busy with those all week, Merlin / Pumas use the airfield fairly regular, sometimes on a busy day you can get up to a dozen sorties their,other days odd one or two..

AMB - Did you read the top of this page????? Tucanos will be onsite all weekend - apart from the Hawk & BBMF Spitfire everything else will be operating from Abingdon, and of course our statics!

Confirmed: both - RAF C130 Hercules , and RAF VC10 Tanker for flypasts !

So for you airheads the scenario is like this:

Fri 4 May (afternoon) - First arrivals ie: RAF Tucanos / King Air / Merlin / RNLAF PC7 expected,RAF Hawks to conduct a flythrough checking our display markers en route to Brize. Also some circuits by a localised trainer type. The morning may see the usual airfield users ie: Merlin / Puma use it for training tbc

Sat 5 May - Midday to 1300L - RAF Tucano / King Air / Tutor & Hawk to rehearse.. mid to late afternoon into early eve some more arrivals including T28, Chipmunk, Bulldog etc, and resident VGS operating thru the day.

Sun 6 May - it all happens weather etc permitting!

Mon 7 May - RNLAF PC7 departs - pos resident VGS ops?

Tues 8 May (morning) - RAF Tucanos, King Air, Merlin depart. - usual Merlin /Puma training may commence...

Thats what we are kind of looking at, at the moment

Also to add i tried to entice a USAFE C130 that will be at Fairford over the duration (not a million miles away) for a flythru perhaps but the US Air Attache declined unfortunetly..

Just wondering, where are you intending on parking the OV-10, Dutch PC-7 and RAF Merlin that are static only? Same as previous years in on the flying line or more into the crowd area?

The Statics will be within a 'square' area - at the end of runway 08 as we had a few years ago - Merlin depending on when its arriving will probably sit on the taxiway below as per last year.

I severely hope not but the forecast is again not looking good for next week.

As far as i know there are no plans to cancel even if we do have a lot more rain ,all the show and parking area are fine as i've been working down there today ,hope this helps

Regardless of weather we will be going ahead unless we suddenely have a monsoon that last days on end! No fear we will be on
