Looks good so far
Re: Spring Airshow 06-05-2012
Great line-up - shame this clashes with the Abingdon show on the same day.

Small update, the P-51 has been replaced by the P-40.

Excellent news. I couldn't make Old Warden last year when the P-40 was there.

Whoops, spectular fail on my part!
Re: Spring Airshow 06-05-2012
Great lineup for first show of the season. hmmm... Old warden, Abingdon or Bruntingthorpe?
Re: Spring Airshow 06-05-2012
Wow. I am definitely going to this one, weather permitting. I've never been there before, and had no idea they could put so many stringbags... oops, I mean "vintage aircraft"... in the air. Sounds like a wonderful day out, I'd love to see some of those golden oldies flying.

They probably won't have all those aeroplanes flying, but they will be selecting from that list.

From past experience I would expect all to fly - weather permitting - they try hard to get everything advertised into the air. If it's too windy then it is just not safe to fly the oldest ones.

Yeah, I realise that - I'll enjoy whatever they can put in the air though, it's all good. Static is good too :-D

Re: Spring Airshow 06-05-2012
Weather watcher is correct. It's not a wish list, that's the stuff they have booked to appear, subject to weather and serviceability etc.

With a few exceptions, these are based aeroplanes and to say 'that's the stuff they have booked to appear' will be misleading to a newcomer to Old Warden to say the least. I have found that the Shuttleworth just do a copy and paste from their residents list and add a few visitors if there are going to be any for their advertisements. They will then select from the list on the day as they deem appropriate.
Notwithstanding that it really doesn't matter what flies, it's always worth going; highly recommended and not just for the flying, but for the unique atmosphere too. You won't spend £25 better anywhere else!
Regards

Does anybody know the current state of the runway - most of the rest of the area is waterlogged.

Re: Spring Airshow 06-05-2012
I notice that non of Peter Holland's collection of German trainers is mentioned in the list of possible participants. Are these no longer available?

He sold the lot minus the Storch and the Magister I believe.
Tempted to head down on Sunday, depending on the weather of course.

The Mustang won't do what a Spitfire does, but it does it over Berlin.

Website has been saying all week: "Please note the airfield is closed until further notice due to standing water on the airfield"
I hope it's dried out by the weekend...

That don't sound good as theres plenty more wet stuff to come. Ironically, Sunday's looking good in the long range presssure maps...

Don't forget the car parking is on grass as well and on a bit of a slope.
Round here water is lying in big puddles in the fields as the ground is too solid for it to soak through.

Well, I realise weather predictions are ten-a-penny, and you can choose the one that suits you...
But BBC weather predicts rain at Old Warden tomorrow, then no rain next 3 days (which includes the Sunday)
XCWeather.co.uk predicts the same.
I choose those ones! But even then, would one or two dry days be long enough for the site to drain? Sufficiently for the show to proceed?

That sir is the question! Heavy falls again today and then, as you say, drying up somewhat. Hopefully staff and volunteers will be putting down huge numbers of "one sheets" to soak it all up.

Looks cloudy all day though per Met Office, too many miles and too much money for average shots sadly, shame as it was a great line up.
