The death of another RAF trade.

The death of another RAF trade.

100sqn have just finished training the final batch of WSO's for the Tornado fleet, no more will be trained, ever. :(

They are slating an OSD of 2020.... Place bets that'll be 2015 to save money.

So could it be that the Hawk 100 Sqn Special Scheme this Year could unfortunately be a Squadron Disbandment Scheme without realising it?

100 Sqn also fulfil the target facilities role along with exercise and training support and dedicate aircraft to support the Joint Forward Air Controllers Training and Standards Unit, so they still have a future.

They've still got plenty of jobs to do, with DACT being the main one now.

And what was the source for this information or is it just another scurrilous rumour? Did it come from MOD or someone (cleaner perhaps?) on the squadron?

It's a utter shame, especially that fact that this was a role I had sent my RAF Application if for.

I wish the three new WSO's the very best of luck with their future!

There's a thought, target towing. What is the point in this day and age? Typhoon firing cannon at a banner behind a Hawk in the year 2012 in case our next war needs that?
