Wasn't there a lively discussion already about this on another thread (which I somehow can't find at the moment)?

The other thread still exists but has been moved to a private area, it was becoming a stuck record so this allows for a clean start.

The moderating team took the decision to start a fresh thread as the previous one had meandered off topic sufficiently to render it of no real use.

Use this thread for all People's Mosquito discussion - be that heated, if need be, but civil and courteous at all times.

Old news - that was a month ago! I was surprised it hadn't made an appearance in the previous thread.

Perhaps that one appointment does lend a fair bit more credibility to the embryonic project.

Something I did ask before but I suspect it got lost in all the embers, quite literally .

For classic cars there are certain criterias to warrant a classification for the term 'restoration.' If that criteria isnt met it is deemed to be a 'reproduction.'

With the small amount of what is left of this airframe, apparently? Can someone say if a similar set of goal posts are used in the warbird world of airframes?

A restortaion of an airframe or would it be classified as a reproduction in this instance.

The reason why I ask is I think Jo Public might feel and perhaps percieve a 'restoration' as a worthy wallet opener whereas a 'reproduction' might be viewed as a private venture for some blokes to have their dreams funded by Jo public for them to flit about the skies?

Hardly "in-depth" is it?

And buried at the back of an American magazine, instead of a 15 minute slot on a UK podcast? How is that going to reach the target audience.

Still no evidence (or even mention!) of the state of the airframe.

Adds nothing that we don't already know. Or hasn't been covered in press releases ad infinitum.

Some great photography in that magazine though...

It does cover a little bit more (albeit briefly) about what Bill Ramsey could possibly bring to the project though, although even though they particularly mention his BBMF experience, it's his other jobs/projects that may help bring the concept forward!

What good is a pilot like Bill Ramsey, without an airworthy machine to fly?

I am surprised at those that think all pilots do is just fly aeroplanes. Actually flying probably takes up quite a small percentage of their time.
Experienced warbird pilots can bring a great deal of operational information to a project without ever getting near the controls.

Those who have raised the point about the remnants of an airframe should look at this and see how little is needed to justify a "restoration".

http://www.cometracer.co.uk/

What is left of RL249 is largely irrelevant. Most of the airframe will have to rebuilt anyway and many components remanufactured. I'm not sure why it is felt so important to see these components.

Sadly it looks like this thread will be allowed to go the way of the last.

Derek, you were very vocal on our behalf on their website when they snubbed us for an interview.

Are you satisfied with the answers given in that article?

As far as answers go, I'm happy that the ones that have been asked have been answered. I'm not the one who appears to be dissatisfied with every single thing that TPM does.

If you really want TPM to answer your questions (although it now appears that you don't) then you need to drop the hostility.

Has the information provided by TPM been sufficient for any UKAR member to part with their hard earned cash yet? Would be interested to see how much the fundraising drive, which has been under way almost four months, has achieved so far.
