Had most of the RAF practice displays today, Tutor, Tucano, Hawk & King Air, sadly no Typhoon but they are both at Southend Airport. Also had had a stonking display from the P40 absolutely amazing the low level bits were incredible. There was not a cloud in the sky a very slight mist but kavok conditions permitted full displays from all aircraft, there wads a 17kts wind that will catch people out a few walking lobsters I think by the end of the weekend!

If you are heading for Southend over the weekend a word of advice.

Having spent a few hours on the cliffs make sure you have plenty of sun block on, plenty to drink and cover your face.

The cooling wind is deceiving and there were a fair few people coming away on the rather red side!

The UV is currently showing 6 so you will burn if unprotected.

Today had the Tutor, Tucano (special scheme) Hawk (Black) King Air which was the first time I have seen it display surprised at the sprightly display they put on made an interesting display.

However star of the practice day was the P40 a spectacular display, nice low swoops over the sea to watch out for.

The ground attractions have been extended past the pier towards the Kursaal.

Stay safe and enjoy a free day of flying.

Does anyone know, whether you can go to the end of the pier and then walk back a bit, to get a bit of a different view of the airshow?

Thanks for the heads up. I think I will give the end of the Pier a miss. Even with a 400mm lens I think I would struggle.

Might give the platform above adventure Island a go.

It's a turbine that pops out of the top of the fuselage, into the airflow, to provide power in the event of an engine failure.
