Hot, Hot, Headcorn

Hot, Hot, Headcorn

Postby Blackjack on Sun 27 May 2012, 10:34 pm

Well today saw me heading off to Headcorn to try out my new lens for the first time. Took an incredible amount of photos but here are some of the better ones. I have still got a long way to go as a lot of them were not brilliant but it was the first time out with the new lens and body so not totally disheartened. Comments and critique welcome as always!

Thank you Richard, it was a great day!! I don't know why but the pics don't seem to look as nice, sharp and punchy as they do directly on my computer - weird!!

Lots of work to do but very exciting times!

I am sorry to say Photobucket is probably the culprit.

Ahh that would explain it, that is what I used to upload them. Don't get me wrong, they were not perfect but they were much nicer and sharper than they look here.

Nice photos. G-LTRF was seen at Midden-Zeeland, the Netherlands visiting the NVAV fly-in. Photos of that event will follow.

Still way busier than Saturday...I'm not bitter at all
There appears to be a dust spot on the lens though, appears in nearly all of the pictures at the top near the middle

I had noticed that!!! I am sincerely hoping it is in the camera rather than in the lens as the lens is brand new and that was its first time out!!

Will not be pleased if I have to take it back because of it.

Almost certainly dust on the sensor rather than the lens. Check your exposure settings, I suspect that you will find that with the high light levels, your auto exposure will have selected a small lens aperture setting (f.16, f.22 or higher), the consequences of which are to accentuate dust spots. Wider apertures (f.5.6, f.8 etc) will probably not cause the dust spots to show. The problem is that you need to set a slow shutter speed to get prop blur (1/320, 1/250, etc), which forces a smaller aperture. When light conditions are so bright, you need to set the ISO to a low figure, say 100.
