This kit has been a joy to put together.

I'm almost tempted to buy the box set again, just to get another Revell Phantom. Almost.

Primer is on and I noted in my references that the flaps 'sag' when the a/c is at rest, so I did a little bit of surgery.

Here are the seats, which I enjoyed painting. Plenty more straps are on the real thing, as you know, but I think I would make it look worse
if I tried adding them.

Even with just the base coat on it looks a "beast". How much I miss seeing the Phantoms at Lossie

I never saw an operational Phantom.

My first memory of one was making a the Matchbox kit. I liked it so much, I actually painted it!

From then on the Phantom became my favourite aircraft, that has flames coming out of its rear. The Mosquito is the greatest prop aircraft

The other Matchbox kit that I thought was a 'beast' but no so much the 'beauty', was the Corsair II A-7. The payload you could put on the A-7 was
immense.

Are there any Phantoms still flying in the UK? Or at least in taxi-run condition?

Nothing 'alive', no. Best thing would be to get yourself to Wittmund before the Germans get rid of theirs, or hope that a UK airshow manages to bag one (or one of the Greek examples) before their time's up.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one completed

You have a better chance of seeing Turkish Phantoms at airshows in the UK, with an out of service date of 2025 for the latest upgraded "Terminator" version. The Greeks were looking at another 10 years although that may change due to the current climate.

I've put some paint on it......

Are these colours OK? The two greens should be fine as there numbers were given my by Scott. The Schwarzgrau is Vallejo Black Grey and obviously matt compared to the Xtracrylix colours. I just thought a gloss varnish over the whole lot would sort out the different finishes.

Oh, I had a go a pre-shading the panel lines (as you can tell from the tail), I ended up with almost a completely black a/c!

So, reverted to brush panting. I will have to try again sometime.

Looks ok to me, the Schwarz Grey does look a bit Green in the pics but this is more than likely down to lighting conditions and the contrast between the Gloss and Matt. What do you think yourself?

Thanks both.

I must admit that although painting the camo seemed to drag on a bit, I am enjoying this build.

Here is a shot of the build so far, with the decals applied to the upper surfaces.

Tug77 has posted his finished 1:32 RE-4F Phantom II today, and here is mine (only 1:72).

This was a great kit to build and I'm really pleased to have a Phantom in my collection (even if it is a German one!).

The panel wash and satin varnish added a nice finish to the build and I am happy the way it's turned out. In fact, I think this ranks within my top 5 favourite builds.

Simply stunning Alan! You really have made a cracker there.

Must be my favourite build of yours to date. The weathering has really paid off to add that extra dimension to the build.
