Diamond Jubilee begins in Portsmouth

Postby kjshaw01 on Fri 01 Jun 2012, 3:34 pm

HMS Diamond started festivities today in Portsmouth and Gosport with a 21 gun salute that was returned from Fort Blockhouse (Ex HMS Dolphin). A flypast of two Lynx and two Merlin was given, and the ships Lynx (with nose art) and Sky news chopper also presented themselves as targets for the lenses lining the harbour each side.

Conditions were pretty bad, made worse by the fact that an hour later the sun shone and the sky had a blue tint to it, but you win some you lose some.

Nice selection

Had HMS Hurworth pass Southend along with the tall ships (and not too tall tall ships) including Artimis (Netherlands), Atlantis (Netherlands), Belem (French), Tenacious (UK), Grand Fiou (German), Curoius (UK), Mathew of Bristol (UK), sadly it was too misty to photograph any from shore. been a number of Thames Barges going along as well.
