Yet another brilliant race! What a drive by Pastor holding of Alonso in the closing stages

A great race with another new winner unfortunatly there has been a fire in the williams garage after the race which was pretty bad. all the teams mechanics rallied round and put it out but as yet no news on injuries, I believe 4 people were taken to the medical centre, no news on severity and it looks like no one is missing thankfully. A sad end to a great race.

Wondered how long it would be before someone came up with a moronic name for Maldonado.

Didn't think it was that good-a-race; there were the odd moments of excitement but wouldn't go so far to say it was the best Spanish GP for years - if Raikkonen and Alonso were closer in the final laps then that would have been better. Hats off to Maldonado for holding off Alonso how he did anyway and good to see a different name on the top of the podium. And on merit as well, drove a faultless race and definitely the class of the field yesterday.

Monaco !!! is it time is was consigned to Europes very own Revival meeting and move the current F1 cars to a track where you can overtake, you can go full speed, you can go slightly offline without hitting something...etc etc etc, yes I know it has history and everyone lamments at how good it is being there but its time has gone Im afraid...listening to the weekends build up was like listening to the so called football pundits who drool over Brazil every four years at the world cup and almost climax with excitement everytime the ball is passed by the team

Dullest GP of the season so far. I was hoping the much predicted rain would arrive and spice things up a bit but sadly no.

Seriously, I was hoping the rain would spice things up a bit, I was thinking the last 8 laps could mean the race is anyone's. Poor Vergne, making a wrong choice for inters at the end, lost what would have been a career-best 7th place. Amazing how Maldonado goes from being hero to zero. He really needs to tame his angst down, as Coulthard quite rightly said, there's no space for dangerous moves to show aggression like he seems to.

On another note, despite BBC only having done a few live races so far, I think their coverage has been brilliant so far. Saw a bit of sky coverage from a friend and wasn't all that impressed really. They weren't either, they only wanted to see live races and can't stand the coverage on sky. Roll on Canada (and Silverstone - going to Friday practice this year again!)

His tyres were finished (he'd had them on since lap 17) and would never have made it to the finish, so he had to pit anyway. The gamble on the inters was one worth taking as he had no chance of points if it stayed dry.

Ted Kravitz on Sky claimed that he'd only run one compound of tyre and had to pit for the second compound, but that's not true - he started on the super soft and put the softs on at his stop.

No, it doesn't, but he'd already used both compounds anyway, so he didn't have to worry about that rule (contrary to what Ted said on Sky). That was never a consideration for them - they'd just run the tyres as far as they were going to go and had to pit. With just 14 laps remaining, he needed some new tyres - he'd never reach the flag driving 14 laps on tyres that had "fallen off the cliff".

In that case, it was worth a gamble on the inters - he had no chance for points after the stop, even on slicks. Had the rain arrived 10 minutes earlier, he might have got himself well into the points or even on the podium.

It was so boring I actually fell asleep towards the end of the race. Montreal is one of my favourite tracks so I'm really looking forward to the next race, lets just hope it isn't delayed by rain like it was last year.

Ah, didn't realise it was down to tyre wear. He changed on lap 71 though when the rain was at its most threatening. If he'd have stayed out a bit longer, I wonder if he could have put his car in all the right places and at least stayed in the points, at least he displayed a strong showing.

I doubt it - once the tyres "fall off the cliff" the pace drops dramatically; Schumacher had no defence when his engine problems hit and I suspect JEV would have been equally as slow.

You also have to question whether or not he'd even be able to keep it out of the walls when he's skating around with no grip; the leaders were 6 seconds a lap slower and sliding a lot when the rain was falling. Imagine driving that on bald tyres?
