That's from Qatar (well not technically, it's actually coming from Boeing at the time of the show).

I'm thinking MAYBE a fast jet? Or is a support likely? If so to the last one, I think it may be a good ol' Herc.

Just a quick thought, here.

It would be nice to see the RAF HS125 and the VC10 :worship: parked up side by side at RIAT as this would be good photo to take, seeing as both types are celebrating their 50th Birthdays this year :win: .

Sadly, only one of them is still in production but it looks like the 125 is the most successful British designed civilian jet aircraft to be built (albeit built by tan American company, but still designed by DH) and i don't know if this is widely know but the 125 has been in production longer than any other jet aircraft (the closest is the 737, two years later, I believe). Now that is worth celebrating

It is quite an achievement but I guess it will go largely unmarked as it is 'just a 125' rather than something as exciting as a Phantom or a Harrier.

Though I still like to call it the D.H.125 Jet Dragon...

Hiya all, A Slovak Mig 29 will be in attendance at RIAT 2012, not sure if it is static or flying.
On the sunday, the red arrows will fly the full 9 formation for a flypast over silverstone for the f1. As far as i am aware they will be operating from Fairford.

I can’t give you an exact source because i didn’t get it off the internet, but after the cancellation of Avord, Waddington wanted the slovaks but they said they only attend 1 event in the UK and that they were already Committed to the event there attending, then when speaking to a freind who spoke to a slovak pilot at a airshow ( ill give the name of the show as soon as i talk to him again) the slovak pilot said that it was a choice between a rotary display and a fixed wing display, because there was already a Mig pilot who had a full display already practiced, the Mig 29 was chosen and on the list of airshows, Fairford 2012 was one of them.

Not sure if it is a static item or a flying item

Pretty sure the reds do a full display for silverstone on the sunday every year, can't see why it would be different this year.

The Reds are displaying as a 7 ship this year. For flypasts they include the 2 spares making 9.

How much practice is required for a static display then ?

RIAT 2012 is looking the best but there is one thing i must stress about, Waddington seems to be getting the USAF flying participants rather than RIAT. Waddington has announced the RC 135. Whats happening?

Well for the Royal International Air Tattoo 2012 Media Launch Tim Prince did state that a Mig 29 will be static for the Cold War Zone which they have set up for this years Air Tattoo.

As the polish mig's are in the Flying displaying wouldn't the flying example and the spare be next to one another ? where as the the Slovak Mig-29 might be the static one Mr Prince is talking about ?

The RC-135 might be a USAF aircraft but i'm guessing it will have an RAF air crew

Possibly due to the fact that the RC-135 will be based at Waddington when it enters into RAF service?

Announced on the 31/05/12

The Air Tattoo is in discussions with the USAF Air Combat Command 55th Wing and USAF Air Force Reserve Command 514th Air Mobility Wing with a view to sending aircraft to July's airshow. Talks are at an early stage.

The B-52 will be making flying visits to Farnborough and before you all complain why isnt it flying at RIAT the DoD are sponsoring the Farnborough visits not the USAF who have entered it at RIAT

I find that if you want to see something on static flying, get yourself to one of the arrival days (I know the B-52 is coming earlier than normal) or the departure day. Problem solved.

I was being sarcastic Wes. It appears some people STILL whinge over an aircraft on static not flying. Therefore it is someone else not me you should be sending that to.

It's easy leading a life leisure isn't it?

Problem not solved. Some people can't, due to having jobs Monday to Friday and having restrictions etc on holiday and leave and when they can/can't take it. Its not going to change the USAF/DoD decision, but certainly not as easy as "problem solved".

Yes, but if they cannot go anyway due to work commitments, why whinge about it being in the static? Like you said, it isn't going to reverse the decision the guys sending it over have made if little Timmy wants it flying.
