RIAT 2012 Participants

Right...
firstly we have the super connie flying, FIA only has it on static.
The b52 is a flypast and only on tuesday, we have the the super connie both days.

Lastly im not bothered about any USAF in the flying, all i would love to see is The Russian Knightss(if only) that would top any USAF display.

I find that if you want to see something on static flying, get yourself to one of the arrival days (I know the B-52 is coming earlier than normal) or the departure day. Problem solved.

It's easy leading a life leisure isn't it?

Problem not solved. Some people can't, due to having jobs Monday to Friday and having restrictions etc on holiday and leave and when they can/can't take it. Its not going to change the USAF/DoD decision, but certainly not as easy as "problem solved".

Yes, but if they cannot go anyway due to work commitments, why whinge about it being in the static? Like you said, it isn't going to reverse the decision the guys sending it over have made if little Timmy wants it flying.

Its very frustrating for many that a real favourite and a really impressive aircraft has a 10,000 mile round trip to be there, just sits on the tarmac. It's fair enough that people may voice their frustration at this.

NEWS: This week, the Air Ops department took a call from the French Navy who informed us that regrettably they could no longer send a Super Etendard to participate in the flying display. Rather than cancel altogether, we invited the French Navy the opportunity to display the aircraft in our static park instead – an offer which they accepted.

Had to be some bad news at some point I suppose.

I wonder how long it will be until the Etendard is removed completely, like the Spanish F1's from last year...

Least this opens up a slot for possible fast jet?

Wonder if RIAT have wind of the Russian Knights rumour?

Not exactly the best update to be honest, think we have the stars now and would be surprised to see any other exotic stuff, once again static seems to get filled with private a/c.

It's still looking like a great show thou, with some interesting items.

The French was an inevitability after the drastic cut of the French shows, I'm surprised we still have the Rafale.

Good selection of US on static today, glad to see they are sending a C-17, was expected to be a KC-10!

More civvi's on static is also an inevitability, it is getting harder and harder to entice Military aircraft to foreign shows for smaller militaries that have very little "spare" capacity above operational needs. :pinkwafer:

Glad to see the private jets. Lovely to sit at arrivals and just watch stuff come in - so the more the merrier!

I wont say i'm heartbroken about the Etendard being static only but... I am.

Oh well! Roll on good weather!

Got to admit I'm gutted about the Etendards, especially as it was only the other day that I was being told how impressive they were at La Ferte. At least we'll see them on static though!

Also the Maltese Armed Forces have declinded the invitiation to attend (unless I missed that before?)

Me too quite sad about the SE's.

I Think we have had so many rumours flying around about Rusian Knights, Slovak Migs and representation from Japan and the gloss is taken off the update because we sometimes are expecting something like that to appear.

Now that its near the show, i would like RIAT to just update us in a more verbal way by saying what the last few weeks before the show are like, and how many more / calibre of participants we may get (if any)

Its a great job they have done, no moaning intended, would maybe keep us in the loop abit rather than read rumours that build things up and then dampen the update, thus spoiling it a bit for us and the DBH crew.

is it a mistake that the date on the riat page still says 7/6/12. or does anyone think they havent finished yet?

It has now been updated to todays date.
Be good to hear from the 'Voice of RIAT' if we are likely to see another other flying items especially since the SE's have now cancelled?

I'm glad its been changed to static. Will be nice to photograph one close range instead of 300mm. Anyone who wants a pic of it flying, will see it on arrival/departure days!
Nice juicy fast jet slot available now!

It put on a impressive display last year with the Rafale at Yeovilton and I was quite looking forwarding to seeing a display with two of them, oh well.

The Super Etendards were one of my highlights for this year - The French Navy displays I've seen have been superb.

Really disappointed they've cancelled :(

Some good static additions though.
