Everybody in Europe avoids the RIAT weekend because they know that will hoover participation.

Perhaps Yeovilton have to look at the calender next year and pick a date that doesn't have any serious competition.

I think the Olympics severely impacted available dates this year, hopefully normal service will be resumed next year.

Will there be a show at Yeovilton next year? I've heard a rumour that Yeovilton and Culdrose will take it in turns to hold a show in future.

What im not fully aware of is the last Ilooked I understood it to be a static example now rather than 2 flyers?

They added a static Tornado last week and while updating their site they made a mistake and removed the Role Demo but this was quickly pointed out and they were added again and as far as I have seen they are still confirmed.

They didn't really have much choice this year as RIAT is being held on the weekend Yeovilton normally occupies and either side of RIAT there is Waddington and Farnborough.

I bet that clashes with Legends as I would guess that FL will revert to its usual weekend!

Arrivals on Thursday were

- Wildcat for the static (I don't think it left).
- FRADU Hawk that went southside and parked next to another Hawk.
- Merlin Mk.1 from CU which had a barracade erected around it.
- A gorgeous Saudi Hercules that will not move from its parking spot "for the next four days".

The Saudi Hawks were scheduled, but did not show. Weather closed in horrifically at 1645hrs so highly unlikely it'll be today.

A Grob also flew. Once.

Apologies - also posted on the arrivals thread..
Saudi Hawks parked up at Nice with their C130.
It doesn't look as though they're planning to move tonight.

Whilst not in the slightest bit insulting to myself I would think that comment may well be to others, as for women, PM me if you need any advice pal.

Perhaps you should direct your comments to the poster who bought the subject up in the first place, I did not say anyone, my comment was clearly directed to the poster of the comment, are you sure you're okay ?

Hi, the herc is desert camo, Looks superb! Only saw one of them, mind.
There was also a "skyvan" type parked up with them - couldn't make out who'se it was, but it did have a green and white tail, so perhaps standing in for herc #2?

8 Hawks parked up. IF they've all spent the night in Monaco, we could hope for a later departure - will give me time to get down to VL before they arrive.

There are some rather sad folk on here grizzling about what will be flying.

The armed forces serving in hot and sandy places, think of them before you whine

This is an active base, we are their guests, be thankfull we can go on site.

It is your choice to go, no one has told you to buy a ticket.

I have not even looked at what is flying / static in detail. I am just going to support our armed forces, and have a bloody good day out.

I'd suggest that the latest BBC forecast tells us that wind and not rain will be the chief threat to tomorrow: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2633371

Saturday
Mostly dry and bright at first, but with one or two locally sharp showers developing and more persistent rain spreading from the west later. Staying very windy.

I second that! If anyone on the Photocall happened to get hold of a program and would be willing to post the times that would be great! I'll be buying a program no matter what as I collect them so I'm not trying to get out of paying would just be nice to see the times in advance.. Cheers, Jamie.

UKAR Police will delete it if they do sadly but from last year when I went I don't think programmes were available, you got a voucher to get one on the day of the show if i remember correctly.

With apologies for a post from a bit of a lurker (and father of two looking forward to tomorrow), I've no insider knowledge on times other than the publicly-available info that the Reds display is 1130-1151 before they depart at 1350 for a flypast at RAF Marham.

And for a Yeovilton Air Day first timer, any advice on where to base ourselves (me plus two under 8s with ear defenders) for a good view of displays and the CA finale would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
