Lockheed's Workhorse - C-130s, post yours!

A recently shot C-130K at RAF Lossiemouth coming down the southern taxiway, a nice surprise as I can't see me getting many more of these in RAF colours.

Both styles of camouflage on the RSAF C-130H/C-130H-30 fleet (not including the civil reg L-100s) at RAF Lossiemouth as support for the Saudi Tornado IDS deployment in 2007.

Another RSAF C-130H landing infront of the RSAF Tornado IDS pan during their deployment, this was the evening six Tornado IDS and one C-130H landed, glorious.

And now a trio of the United States inventory.

First up is the Air Force C-130J-30 from Rhode Island ANG for Exercise Combined Strength at RAF Kinloss in May 2010.

Also deployed, this Coast Guard HC-130J from CGAS Elizabeth City! The highlight of the exercise.

Now the Navy, one of the many Joint Warrior support C-130T from over the last couple of years. This example in the new scheme.

Nice idea for a "Post your..." thread, Tony.

Nothing rare or esoteric from me.

Probably the rarest of the Hercs I've seen. A Bolivian example at Opa Locka some years ago. Poor shot, but it was this or nothing.

Some nice stuff emerging, glad someone's posted that mental YMC-130H. Would love to catch a French and Tunisian example, funny how a French Herc seems to be just as rare as a Tunisian one!

3 more from me...

And my take on the Nigerian C-130H-30 that's still in Cambridge, and looks to be staying there for quite a while longer!

Although Snoopy has appeared earlier in this thread I hope you don't mind me posting her again.

Apologies for the quality. I took this with a point-and-shoot in October 1987 before I had any interest in aircraft (besides letting us get the job done). It is at Brest (Guipavas) airport and I was the UK field manager in a meteorological field campaign with the French and Germans called FRONTS87. This was a particularly active front (the sort we wanted!) and put the mains power out in Brittany. The aircraft had just landed mid-flight and the scientists and crew were about to be briefed by me on what to do next. One of their main jobs was to drop 'sondes' on small parachutes through the front to measure temperature, humidity and wind at much greater resolution than we normally got - so I had to make sure they knew pretty accurately where the front was going to be.

Sorry to waffle on but thought some might find the background interesting - especially those with a soft spot for Snoopy.
