Scotland's National Airshow 2012, East Fortune

East Fortune keep changing the lay out of their website, and with it, participants appear to come and go.

One thing I've picked up on and that's from their blog... http://feastbowl.wordpress.com/category/events/airshow/ though posted back in May was that the
Lindstrand HS110 Hot Airship which will be flying before and during the interval display.

Does this suggest a genuine 2 part display, to accommodate early departures/Late Arrivals with the airship tootling about in-between?

From that same blog Entry the Great War Display. SE5a and Junker CL5. are to be in attendance.

THe more recent Blog are from Tiger Moth Pilot David Cyster and about the on the ground activities.

What this now gives is...

RAF Falcons
RAF Red Arrows
RAF Hawk Display
RAF Tucano
RAF King Air Display
Royal Navy Sea King
Great War Display Team (2x SE5A 2x Junkers CL1 from own site)
Lindstrand Airship
P51 Mustang
RNHF Swordfish (own site confirms Sea Fury as well)
Tiger Moth
OH-6 Loach (Own website now states Flying Display)
RV8tors
SWIP Team Twister Duo

Looking better all the time.

The new display includes the world’s only air-worthy Avro Anson

I hope it will be good as it's been really warm and dry with no wind for several days and this corner of the country often has its own micro-climate and is often different to the forecast! Fingers crossed for decent weather... especially around 2.15pm onwards!!! ;)

I'll be checking the met office website,it's no guarantee, but it's as close as I'll get to finding out other than pulling back the curtains on Saturday morning! Hopefully we will get a great display from all participants if the weather is kind enough especially for the Reds. Now I'm like a kid at Christmas!! :yahoo:

I know that the Red Arrows and possibly a couple of other things are operating from Leuchars but can anyone tell me what if anything is operating out of Edinburgh Airport for East Fortune?

As of 7pm last night, the Avro Anson and the Tucano were at Edinburgh.

Might have been others too, but these were the only ones that I could see.

Well,I got a drooking at East Fortune, however the Hawk display was ace despite the dodgy weather,Favourites this year had to be the Hawk display,Red Arrows,Mustang,Sea Fury and the Swordfish. SWIP team and RV8ors were great but unfortunately due to some dull conditions I was unable to get a lot of photos,so I will update my Flickr account tomorrow,to be honest,I didn't get as many as I'd wanted due to some really heavy downpours and low cloud at times  :wall: However, well done for getting the Avro Anson! Shame the Hot Airship went tech, but what we did get,I won't complain about, just the ruddy weather which was a pain in the bum! Ok there was a bit of a warm sunny patch,if it had been like that all day, then it would have been all the better! Red Arrows gave more than a good account of themselves even though they're a 7 ship display team for reasons we all understand, well done Reds!

From Edinburgh today I saw the Avro Anson, 1x RAF Display Hawk, 2x Tucano (1 display colours and 1 black - parked at Edinburgh), 1 Mustang and an RAF King Air. And over the scanner was heard the Red Arrows approaching East Fortune from Kirkaldy Bay - never saw then tho.

Aww man, they were outstanding, despite being a 7 craft display team, they really were pushing not just that extra mile, they pushed an extra 10 miles, yeah, was tuning into scanner as well, picked up a few new frequencies to my ears,so whilst they are now logged in the wee scanner,I will shortly add them to the big scanner!

Saw the Reds at Waddington earlier in the Year and as usual even though circumstances meant they only had 7 Jets the display was still top notch. Infact if I dare be so bold as to say I actually thought the Koreans were trying to imitate them - there's only one team - The Red Arrows.

As far as I know they are doing displays with only 7 aircraft but flypasts such as the Olympics with the full 9 aircraft. Presumably as there's less training required for flypasts.

Red 10 is one of the 9 when performing flypasts, not sure who the other is.

At the Red Arrows stall today, there were (that I saw) at least 2 of the 'Blues', Red 10 and another in a Red Arrows flying suit who very kindly posed for photo's with the kids. I suspected this person to be the other pilot making up the 9 for flypasts.

Soaked to the Skin but worth it for some nice displays by the aircrews despite the best efforts of the Weather to wash us away.

Camera is drying out at the moment, so haven't even looked to see what I've got.

Have to say the Anson displayed beautifully, so elegant.
A really nice display by the Great War team, really told a story. Glad to have finally seen them.
The Teichman warbirds are always well displayed, Jumpin' Jaques being no exeption even if displayed against predominantly grey cloud.
Nice to see the Reds back, and yes it was momentary lump in the throat to see the 7-ship rather than a 9-ship. But a excellent display all the same.
The SeaKing Swordfish combo at the end was unusual and unexpected, Glad the did a Second pass (North to South) together as I couldn't get both aircraft in the same shot as they came over the trees from the South.

The display team are Reds 1-7 for this year. They also have Red 8 and Red 10.

Red 8 travels with them as they often do flypasts on route to and from events, he along with Red 10 make up the 9-ship Battle formation that that is used for flypasts.

Red 8 was at the Red Arrows tent whilst he and Red 10 were on-site at EF.

My camera hardly left the bag due to the rain so for the first time in a long time at an airshow, I actually got to stand and watch the displays. This was good and bad because there was so much I wanted to snap, but didn't risk because of the rain, so instead I got to take in what was going on.

Toward the end of the display when the WW1 dogfight was in motion, we were treated to one ferocious downpour, even with appropriate clothing, still got soaked, kids compared it to having a shower with your clothes on and they were not far wrong.

Despite the weather though, we had an enjoyable day.

Yep, that downpour was a bit special. Worst weather I've experienced at an airshow since the Great Volkel Downpour of 2007.
